For my Understand compare to the SAD ENDING is This is TRUE ENDING and he inherit the whole persona and memory completely and became Wukong right before the OLD monkey put the golden headband to him and what is meaning off screen is He will refuse to wear it again. it hint in the memory this is how he plan all of this with Erlang to escape the golden headband.
ps: we might geting a DLC with currupt baddha and jade emperror and the return character Shā Wù jìng in the DLC. i believe he kept hidden on purpose to make DLC story.
