    The really awesome thing about the Soldano sound which you touch on at about 5:00 is that you don't need to mash the gain to get great sustain. A gain setting of 3-4 on the overdrive channel is plenty to get it to sing out, and that's really a testament to how nicely articulate and defined the sound can be, despite sounding like there's more gain than there really is, so to speak. To me, Soldanos sound like the very best 'pushed 800' sound you can imagine.

  • @atomicslam1589

    This was a MUCH better demo than the SLO 30 demo. Very nice. You got this one dialed in much closer to the legendary SLO tone.

      @@novagoth did you match the SLO head with the matching 2x12? Also how is your clean headroom? Can you go loud with slight break up? I understand the clean setting drops in volume vs the crunch setting. Do you use a boost to help with the volume drop on the clean setting, or do you enjoy just running the crunch channel by itself as a slight break up setting? Just curious to know your experience with the amp after owning it for two years. I will greatly appreciate your thoughts.

    I like the new SLO 100 but theres a difference compared to the original, the original has this laser precision/articulation in the mid range and high end, hard to explain but you know when you hear a soldano.

    • @81giorikas
      @81giorikas 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are some differences in the circuit as well. The loop was moved, which means a tube (2 stages, one normal one cathode follower) now does some compression after the master volume and not sequentially as before.
      The original SLO (without loop) was in fact more like this one, but without the loop. If I remember soldano has the loop bypassed in the 2020 version. So play that configuration.
      The classic SLO that most people rave about is 5 12ax7 and different than this one.
      And they changed the classic 39K resistor of the third stage to 33K. Why? Probably because they wanted some more harmonics in that stage. They maybe lost some with the tube of the loop going after the master. 33K is slightly gainier and hairier than the 39K.
      So now they cloned the hughes and kettner triamp preamp, which was a rectifier preamp clone with some mods which was an SLO clone with some mods etc.
      And they use a different layout and different transformers.
      TH-cam will get it's A/B with the old one, but to be fair you can't easily compare them for accuracy, I mean even excluding the differences you should get the same tubes in tehm with the same order to get the same eq...
