Hey I’m jus a hobbyist wit a couple tanks but recently I discovered that I actually have a breeding pair of super red bristle nose plecos so i through in some caves in my 10 gallon to see what they would do I have some 1” & 1.5” caves my male stays in one of the 1” caves guarding the dear life out of it and my female seems to always(twice) lay her eggs all over the tank instead of in the cave they all seemed to be fertilize so I tried sucking them up with a turkey baster and putting them in his cave to see if he would start guarding the eggs into fry but he always fans them out the cave and they end up getting eaten by either the plecos or clown loaches any tips you can give me to try and get it right oh and I forgot to mention they are young pleco’s that jus reach breeding maturity..
Hello thanks for the question! I would give them time, if they are a young pair they should figure it out eventually! Now if you want to try and hatch those eggs out that she scatters everywhere, your best bet is removing them completely from that tank, and setting up a little hatchery with a plastic container, a tiny heater, an air stone turned down with very little flow, and a drop or 2 of methylene blue to prevent the fungus. Then once they all hatch take them out of there and put them in another tank to grow them out like a 10-20 gallon.
Setup is looking nice!! I’m really starting to like super whites!!
Thank you!
Tanks look amazing man great job! What paint did you use? I was thinking of doing the same thing.
Thank you! I used Acrylic craft paint from hobby lobby.
