  • What's a Waldorf Main Lesson? And how do you put it together? I share some tips with you on how I have traditionally put together our main lesson blocks. Before I share how I put them together, lets talk about the difference between between a unit study and a main lesson block. A unit study focuses on a subject area while weaving in other subjects, with lessons being of any duration. A main lesson block focuses on a particular subject area for a specific amount of time 3-6 weeks with lesson lasting 1.5-2 hours. A unit study can be done on a subject at any grade while a main lesson block is chosen for a particular grade/developmental stage.

Hello Hana, thank you for sharing. I cant wait to explore mineralogy! Okay, so I'm trying to create a main lesson block for science, specifically learning about ocean. I'm struggling with the actual , outline or maybe I should say plan for how to write out my ideas for projects, books, topics etc. Would be able to show how you write out a plan. Or, if you have a video where you show how you do this would you please direct to it. Thank you, I love your content, website and your library is amazing!!🙋🏿‍♀️🤗

Hello! Thank you 😊 I went through the same thing when doing our ocean main lesson block. I struggle to see the whole picture and how I wanted to proceed with it. I would recommend you start with something familiar, as in if you live near a body of water begin with learning about it and make connections to the bigger picture. Also browse the library both kid and adult section. I’ll try to share a more detailed yet generic approach.

Thank you Hana, I will do that. Starting smaller and closer to home actually feels less intimidating 😅. We actually live in walking distance to the Hudson River. So, I'm thinking of opening our lesson with the map of the ocean from Dk Oceans Visual Encyclopedia , it has a really nice picture of all the oceans of the world, then I'll scale back to our river and work outward. And, I look forward to seeing a generic approach as well. This really helps me, thanks again.🙋🏿‍♀️🤗

Another idea... find a book or curriculum on ocean life and look at the table of contents as a starting point.
