His family would be whole with a great partner by his side and the toll of those years would’ve been far lighter. Pirates of the Caribbean altered everything & put him in a situation he had wisely avoided up to that point: factory films with 100 mil+ budget's, huge salaries, megastar fame; Benny & Joon was a thing of the past. He had some sort of midlife/artistic crisis filled with too much fame, too much money, too many houses, too much booze mixed with too many drugs, and was drawn to the type of woman that swims in that world of Hollywood excess. He’s probably had hundreds of Amber Heard’s circling him throughout the years, they’re legion in LA, but had avoided them until that moment - maybe spent a wild weekend or two with a few of them in his day but didn’t let them in. But in his crisis he chose destruction, probably due to unresolved childhood trauma. Looks like he’s now correcting that horrible misstep and moving back. Smart move
