I'm just a fan admiring from a distance...it's so exciting to see you in "BIG GIRL SHOES" appreciating the journey you're on!! Also, interns are free labor... use that shit 😂 don't be uncomfortable, it's your business you're building.... just be honest and upfront and let them make the decision!! Your conscience will be clear, trust me!!
Working for free is a great learning opportunity for a lot of people. When employers hire paid help, they are expecting the person to have hands-on experience. Also, are you Jamaican?
Yeahh, I think because I want someone with a bit more experience at this stage, that's why it's somewhat in my interest to pay for help. Butttt from a business perspective, we need to save money loll. And yes, I grew up in Jamaica and moved to Canada for university :)
Personally I am not a fan of unpaid internships. I definitely can understand why a small business might want to do that but if I were to be a business owner I think I’d do soemthing similar to you or maybe have it be an unpaid internship but still with a “weekly bonus” or something similar. But I don’t own a business so who knows if I’ll change my mind
I agree with you! Like even a commission from new clients or something. In the end I decided to pay her a reasonable rate per hour but just cap the number of hours per week so it still falls within my budget
I want to break into the industry & I am currently completing a Communications and Media studies degree. I know you're not hiring, but I can use the experience to get my feet wet and provide creative services to help grow your business.
If you have a resume or portfolio available, feel free to send it to info@kbmediagency.com. Things have been picking up since I filmed this video back in April, so hopefully I can hire some time soon, or at least offer internship positions.
