Biggest problem is the input latency, not being balanced. Meaning one player will have more input lag than their opponent. As a result, your player controls like an ice hockey player and takes forever to correct minor movements of your opponent, let alone correct to the proper switched player.

I constantly have 45ms for a week, then next week constantly 60ms, then back to 45ms etc. Despite the number shown, I can clearly tell one week the game is responsive, the other unresponsive etc. I am not so sure how the networking for this game works, but If I remember correctly, I read a speculation on a forum at one point and time, where they explained basically this: When a FIFA launches for the first month or after a sale etc. the EA servers handling the player inputs, perform great(but expensive), in order for EA to give the illusion the game is improving/becoming more fluid and responsive etc. After such critical periods, in order for EA to save cost on their servers, they switch it to ECO mode, instead of High Performance Mode and they make the input processing less responsive for a few days/weeks, then switch it to normal usage, so that people don't catch on to it. To get more technical this is achieved doing this: The buffer, containing your controller's inputs that are sent to the EA servers, is the thing that EA keeps messing with. If the buffer's size is small, as soon as enough player's inputs fill it up, it's being sent to the servers, for processing and since it's small, it fills up faster and it's being sent more often and it updates at a higher server tick rate(responsive inputs). If EA wants to save money and reduce load on their servers, they increase the buffer's size, so that it doesn't fill up as easily and require to be sent so often for the server to process more requests per frame. As such, with a simple buffer tweak, EA can reduce the load on their servers on periods of time where a peak ammount of people are playing, when not a lot of people are playing, EA can reduce the buffer size on that region and people with average connections can enjoy the game. TLDR: If you wanna play Fifa with less input latency, make sure to join at a time period where not a lot of people from your region are playing the game.
My switch switches to the guy behind the guy with the ball, rarely to someone in front. I usually switch with the right stick ( not completely accuarate but better), then running in front of him in the same direction till I get between him and the ball or side tackle him.

It doesn’t matter what you press in the 45th and 90th. If EA wants your opponent to win they will. There are some matches that you just know there is something fishy going on. I play fifa 20 just cos it’s on game pass and I can imagine the pain fifa 22 players feel. Rigged ash

L1 switching is very bad ,try not move that player out of position until ,it chooses to bring you closer to the eminent threat ,and pray you not chasing a pacy/tricky player ,you F’D ,the by standing defenders never punish bad decision making by attackers no matter how hard you try to keep the shape . End up breaking your controller
@GamingGova, no switch your players with the right stick (i.e. R3) especially when you are defending. The L1 switching only allows you to switch on players that are close to your opponent (i.e. players that are close to the ball literally). Therefore, use both R3 and L1 switching to improve your overall defending. Thank you.
