  • In this grand tactician confederate campaign and battle gameplay we can see that the developers may have bitten of more then they can chew, but the scale of ambition and relative quality of what they have produced is never the less impressive!

    This game has been made with heart, not just 'we need next version of this AAA game, so go do it... or something.' - All that extra flavor briefings, Telegraph company reference, the fact that military units dun just respond instantly but needs courier messaging to receive orders, time to understand the orders and THEN carry it out. Hell, I bet if your command lines get cut off, you might not be able to issue new orders due to couriers getting intercepted - At least that'd be a cool later DLC for this if the Game does well. more expansion on things, perhaps an earlier start date so you can do some intelligence gathering pre-war, prepare and finally initiate/respond to the declaration of civil war.

      @@williamchristy9463 Thats the thing though, Warhammer, Warhammer 2 are WIDE AS AN OCEAN but DEEP AS A PUDDLE. Sure they a what 12 races now? even more coming in WH3, Sure the game has ALOT of factions with each race having a DIFFRENT unit but......brake it down beyond of the surface and their is not much difference other then STATS and Unit Model for the most part.
      Not to mention the POWER CREEP of every NEW lord having some fancy mechanic attached to them that makes old lords kinda obsolete besides their Faction effects and start position. Also the fact that on harder difficulties the AI bonuses are so INSANE most of your unit roaster (namely melee troops) becomes useless.
      Don't get me wrong the Warhammer games can be Fun and are, BUT they are not very good Total War games. Their is just so much depth that is missing that is in previous games. Seems like WH3 is going to FINALLY address some of the biggest failings of the 2 previous games though so, maybe third times the charm?

    @Arch Nice video, though I got to admit I was a little bit suprised you decided to utilize your Cavalry like that. I played the game extensively about half a year ago (when it was slightly more buggy) and in all honesty I found Cavalry to be EXTREMELY usefull for the roles it was meant to fullfill (although they could be mauled pretty badly if you overcommitted or underestimated the enemy, but then again that's only natural.)
    But yeah, Cavalry, quite usefull for scouting, threatening the enemy's flank, catching singular enemy units out on the march out of formation and sweeping through the enemy's flank if they left themselves exposed and had no reserves left.
    I wonder if we'll ever see an actual multiplayer for this game in particular or such games in general... would be most intriguing indeed.

    My only problem with the game is the AI is pretty dumb, especially with attacking. It just never concentrates its troops right or lines up in such a way as to make flanking hard. On the attack it most off just feeds single brigades at a time into the grinder of your entire line. I don't think I have ever seen it stack up 5-6 brigades and move them all in one concentrated attack and even if it does push a few brigades forward simultaneously, it usually leaves their flanks just swinging in the wind so you can envelop them.

    If you're wondering, this game is broken as hell. Just when you think you've discovered all the bugs, new ones appear.

    I would love to see this game as a lets play series. Also the friday review thing sounds really good, I actually liked that (and the let's plays with you talking about different subjects) alot. And was one of the reasons I subscribed. (you know, besides the warhammer stuff) Now its mostly political stuff on this channel, which is fine but not the reason I stayed a fan of yours.

    I suggest a particolar game;
    Commander ops 2
    It's a simulator of strategic warfare during ww2.
    I don't know how to exactly explain It, so I think Arch you can do It Better than me. :D

    I wonder whether the sight of soldiers in the open steadfast and inceassently exchanging musket vollies with an enemy in entrenched positions, would be a situation that warrants a bayonette charge. (which would require well drilled troops ofcourse.)

      Bayonet charges are a gamble without a 3000 man brigade with appropriate melee trait with a few exceptions. When your brigade has at least around 500 men more than the enemy or they the enemy is wavering.

    CMO actually seemed to do a reasonable job with the AI but the much more focused scope of it probably helped there. Shame this amazing genre has such a crippling problem holding it back.

    It would be interesting if some of the AI generals had the same personalities as some real life ones. Not sure how much that has been done in games before.
    I remember there was a union general that was so cautious he kept refusing to attack when he should have, pissing Lincoln off.
