- Jens Lindemann interviews Arturo Sandoval for Tip Tuesday. For more information please visit / trumpetjens & www.arturosando...
Every Tuesday on Jens' Facebook page a different artist is featured and Facebook users submit questions for them to answer. Check out who our new guest is every Tuesday!
"What I'm trying to explain is: same mouthpiece, same horn, same chops, same breathing, same everything. The sound is inside your head."
So true. Thank you Arturo!
Lmao
12:25 "Every time we have the opportunity to sit down and practice, you know what's my best recommendation? Take three seconds, only... three seconds. As soon as you are ready you put your book (out), you get your horn, get a glass of water, sit down, and then take three seconds, look up, and say "Thank God." Three seconds. The frame of mind that's gonna create because you're so grateful; you're so glad that instead of doing something else, you're about to start practicing."
Thank you Arturo.
That's so true ! This advice is so precious... Great master !
Always inspiring and never gets old! Jens and Arturo... No BS!
Listening to his explanations and his putting his personal self, which is so basic and yet so true, I am sitting here and the tears are rolling down my face. "The Sound" not what others are playing, but what you want the instrument to express your true feelings and what you think the music wants to express. The joining of these two things are what makes me happy.
I love how the smoke comes out the end of the horn when he plays "Maynard Ferguson"
I think this is the best interview I've seen
the steam coming out of his bell! that was crazy! 9:30
Retroneers or maybe the smoke from the cigar that still hasn't left his lungs hahaha
Str8 🔥
Absolutely right on the money. More than anything else he said, the part about giving thanks, that we are able to spend our time on an artistic pursuit, rather than just trying to survive day to day. It sets the tone for getting the focus right and making the time in the woodshed count.
So many times I know I get frustrated because I can't do what I want to do with the trumpet, because I have so much 'me' in the effort. Let go, and let God, make a joyful noise to His glory and He will use you as His instrument. Thank you Mr. Sandoval for putting the focus where it needs to be.
Que Viva la Música… Thanks Señor Arturo, for your humble and honest outlook always..
Oh my God I need to watch this each and every day of my life
Loved this interview. Thanks for doing it. I really enjoy hearing from my favorite trumpet player on earth.
A man who loves music, fully understands every aspect of it, and is the most versatile trumpet layer of all history.
THIS IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE VIDEOS
This is why I look up to this maestro of music
Timofei Dokshizer...was the name
Thank you sir.
hahahaha im looking for that! thanks
Absolutely true and magic words of Aturo !!!! :-) Thanks Aturo and Jens
What an artist! What a human being!
The same chops, the same mouthpiece, the same horn…and the same cigar…
Excellent interview, thanks!
Do what he says, not what he does. According to the smoking idea. Man I loved how he came straight out and said fundamentals are what we need to practice. So glad I have a wonderful teacher who preacher the same to me.
Thanks for sharing your insights and believes ...beautifull ....cheers guys.x
It’s what most seasoned pros have come to realize. It’s a wonderful progression for all players to aspire to. Arturo is really cool with his brass wisdom!
I am totally inspired, can't wait to get back to the horn!

Magic Words from THE MASTER...
Arturo understands!
Arturo. . .my idol!
7:44 This, fellow trumpeters, is what you should be working on. If you can get a feel of different styles, then the sky is the limit for your musical career!
Ooh guys did anyone notice at 9:35 there is smoke or smth coming out hahahahaha😂😂😂😂 oh man haha so funny haha nice arturo!!!
If you watch carefully, you can see a little water vapor come out of his bell when he plays "Maynard Ferguson" around 9:30. haha
yeah, i saw that, i just put it down to cigar smoke in the lungs
Please, can somebody direct me to the musician Arturo refers to at around the 5:15 mark?
I was just wondering what Clifford Brown practiced. I would assume Lee Morgan did the same. Thanks for posting.
Not a lot of people know but Clifford Brown was fanatical about Raphael Mendez. Clifford Brown practised Arban every day.
timofei dokshizer is the name of trumpet player he refers to
arturo Dios te bendiga, me llego amigo
! Coño chico, que BUENO està Esto!
PROFOUND!!!
BOSS. . .
9:31. Watch for the fire breath!

Next question: How do you literally make SMOKE come out the end of your bell? I mean, that was obviously a condensation vapor, but I had to rewind, I couldn't believe what I was seeing at first! LOL! That is A LOT of fast air!
lessons coming soon by Maestro!
anyone else see the water vapor coming out of the bell at 9:32?
I can literally see the steam leave his bell.
Minute 9:11 what it´s that tune? Thanks
+Walter Ivan Paredes Ortiz tenderly

🤣 bei 9.30 kommt Qualm aus der Kanne 🤣🤣
The word was 'play'. I'm not accepting any cracks, thanks.
"same mouthpiece, same horn, same chops, same breathing, same everything.” The only thing not “same" is the delay (9:00) lol...
A pleasure watching this! . We also had the privilege of sitting down with Arturo recently. You may enjoy this: th-cam.com/video/y6bM6njUpME/w-d-xo.html
