Hi Keith, thanks for sharing all your experience. Based on your knowledge i succeed, as a total novice, to build a large foamcutter. Kudos!

Hi, John No I haven't. I only have the trial version because I still use Profili2 Pro for wings. It still does what I want. Part 1 shows Profili2 Pro which may be of some help.

Interesting, I already ordered devcad and I am learning to use the software, I have been trying to cut some tapered parts but I can't, I built my CNC foam cutter with arduino uno, and shield. I am going to try with arduino mega and ramps. some friends are asking me to get out from arduino and get mach3, but I don't know what board to use. congratulations for your great work.
My CNC cutter was built using aluminum extrusion 2020 and 4 motors Nema 17, Arduino Uno with CNC shield, and devcad software.

Hi, Luis thanks for your comments. Mach3 is good software but come at a cost of $175 and was originally designed to use the parallel port. If you want to use USB then you'll need extra hardware. I have a post on my website showing the options www.rckeith.co.uk/mach3-parallel-port/ I use LinuxCNC for all my foam cutting now on an old desktop computer with a parallel port interface and have several spare machines. Mach3 also works on these. I'm upgrading my design this year(2019) to use NEMA17's and the Arduino Mega with RAMPS. Mainly because I get a lot of feedback asking if it's possible to do that. If you want to keep the cost down then an old desktop and a parallel port controller on eBay something like this will do www.rckeith.co.uk/go/parallel-port-kit-ebay/
They still work really well and are very reliable. A lot of people say they don't want to use old technology but Mach3 goes back to Windows 2000 days and they still use Mach3. Hope that was helpful.

@@rckeith . thank you for your response, I have been immersed reading your website and all the information that you have published. I love airliners and my goal is to learn to build my models. Hoping that I can start soon to do this. please let me know when your new ebook will be available, certainly I will order one.

Thanks for sharing. To start cutting, do you align the wire to a specific point - something like the lower corner of the foam block and zero the 4 axis? or do you leave it at home position and position to block to a specific position on the table and tell the DevFUs foam the location the of the block?

      GlideFunAddict Hi
I zero all the axis with the limit switches and then move off about an inch. Place the foam very close to the wire and left DevFus do the rest. As long as you have plenty of foam it's not too critical. Just make sure your foam is squared up with the wire and it works well and very accurate. Hope that helps
