    Nice Jeep. I had a 79 CJ7 with the 304. We put 360 heads on the 304, the 360 heads have bigger valves. Mine had the 304, 360 heads and a Holley 500cfm 2 barrel. I did not have headers like you do, but I did weld together my own exhaust with mandrel bends. My big recommendations from mine are the 360 heads, and make sure your two into one collector is not constrictive. I used one of the Flowmaster two into one collectors, but recently on my sons Ford I made one using a 2 1/2" 180 degree mandrel that I cut down. You can lose or gain lots of power from the two into one collector on these exhausts.

    I did have a filter gasket come off on my f150 a few years ago. What a mess that made in my driveway! Used a bucket of sawdust to clean it....I won't make that mistake again! I also have a CJ5 with the 304, thanks for posting this.....

    Yes, I had the rubber ring come off an oil filter for a 1981 Toyota pickup. It stuck to the block. I did not notice. Slapped another filter on top. And painted the driveway black from one end to the other after start-up.

    Man that jeep looks mint. You remind me that I need to start prepping to have my old patina w116 prepped and ready for another season. 🎉

    I had an oil filter gasket come off on my Dodge pickup once. I didn't notice it, and when I started her up after the oil change, she was gushing oil all over the driveway. Make sure you check and know where it is. Funny thing is, I did notice it felt weird when I was spinning it on. Trust your instincts and check when you get that feeling.

      Same thing happened to me on my 03 Dodge Ram Hemi. The gasket on the old filter stuck to the motor and when I put the new filter on I didn’t notice it. It went about 1.5 turns after hand tightening which I thought was weird, but it wasn’t until I fired it up that I noticed it was gushing everywhere.

    Left an oil filter gasket on my XJ once. Lost all my oil. luckily I saw the pressure gauge and bought a few quarts to get me home. My date wasn't thrilled with hobbling it home with me and inside of truck smelling like oil though!

    Pumped a gallon of oil all over an engine compartment from a Crusader 8.1. The gasket ALMOST always comes off with the filter, The once it doesn't can make a big mess quickly.

    I have found if you use the bosh oil filter it is much easier to install. It is much smaller only the diameter of the o-ring. It makes my life much easier!

    Happened to me once. Dufus me didn't notice. Started it up - a squeaky clean red Toyota pick up. Oil sprayed all over it and my face. Had to do a quick wash on it before the customer came back. Woopsie 😅
    The absolute best though was working on a friend's dad's Lincoln Town Car. He insisted I use a Fram filter 🙄
    Same thing. Started it up and there was oil gushing everywhere. I did not leave the old seal on the car and the filter was tight. Double checked and started again. Still spraying oil. Turned out the threads were not cut properly. I could stick my entire pinky into the Motorcraft filter which I took off. I could not get my pinky past midnuckle with the Fram. Piece of... I digress.

      Have not used Fram in a long time. My gotos are Wix, ACDelco, Purolator and Mann

      I haven't used Fram oil filters in 30 years or so. Not horribly opposed to their air filters. Wix, Mann for my 123 and 126, or OE for my newer cars. Before Beck Arnley became World Parts, I used them in my old VWs. Basically reboxed OE.

    Maybe you can put a spacer, between the block and the oil pressure sending unit.

      @ImpalamansGarage ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Possibly. Good point. I usually try to work with the cards I'm dealt. LOL.... There is a slightly smaller oil filter that I have used in the past that does not require all that but they didn't have one at the parts house.

      Nope. It certainly is not original. It is heck of a nice cruiser though.
