Willie did not write this song. Rev. J.K. Alwood wrote this song in 1879.

Great...! Now I don't have to look up the writer. It's fair to say that Willie made the song more famous, since it's on his Troublemaker LP (CD). But, let's give credit where credit's due. This song predates Willie by a generation...!
