A man acting that way probably isn't a 100% gentleman. But please consider that roads are short, often interrupted, and shops are on both sides. For this reason it's easy that a couple frequently crosses the road and changes side, positions and so on. After some time passed like that it's possible that a man decreases his level of attemption toward passing cars and so on
