I love the relationship you and Rachel have. It is awesome to see brother and sister that, clearly, enjoys teaming up together. Shows a lot of character. You have a diverse group surrounding you and you show great respect and appreciation for everyone. That’s rare, and I think it’s why people gravitate to you.
Before registering the bus and buying insurance you might need to check the requirements as regarding the number of seats. It might be as simple and removing some of the seats before registration to get cheaper insurance and driver license requirements.
@@sweetpea3472 It's only a commercial vehicle in KS if you're using it for commerce. Which already skips the whole school bus thing. Insurance is kind of a hassle, but you have to just push on them.
I like your short bus conversion. was thinking about doing that but I also like the shuttle busses. I would want to find one with two front seats though. I have seen some like that though they are not as common I think. keep up the good work! maybe someday I will take my Travel show on the road!
Love this segment! We need more! May want to add to stage 1, check if you can park a large vehicle in you neighborhood. HOA's usually won't let you park large busses on your property. 😒
I full time "boondock" in a Born Free 24' Class C. If i had more time in life I'd buy a high ground clearance diesel bus, preferably 4X4 just for the ability to go further back on dirt roads around central Idaho and southern Utah. Someday I'm gonna get stuck and it ain't gonna be cheap.
@@navigationnowhere I'm in Kanab Utah, waiting my RV solar system self-install to be crtiqued. The shop here has 5 mobile trucks just to fix/pull RV's out of stuck situations in the vast Grand Staircase-Escalante and Parashant National Monuments which are nearby. $$
And just as promised, Rachel shows up for another vid!! Great job!! It is hard to do these. It's weird standing talking to a camera getting no response or indication if you're on or off track to where you want to be. But no worries Rachel, you nailed it. Looking forward to you showing up in a lot more to come.
This was so cute! Just didn't hear any specific information on engines, transmissions, drive-trains -- even the three basic model types. Hopefully that's what the blog's about?
Where can I subscribe to Rachels busbuyingconvertingtraveling channel? For real: whenever Rachel might decide to start one, a lot of us will be there! 😊 It wouldn't be a competition, but an asset!
Which buses (any style) have 6'4" roof tops? I'm 5'11 3/4" and I know sub flooring and final flooring are going to eat up at least 3 inches, plus overhead insulation and paneling will be 1-2". I need the maximum or a roof raise but I have no welding experience so it would be super costly.
Love Rachel she did an Awesome job!! This video was very Helpful! I know you may not need your CDL but what about your chauffeur license? Anyways love love love Shop Talk!❤ Much Love❤
I’m in South Carolina. Currently looking. What’s the most reliable engine to look for? I’ve been hearing 5.9 & DT466. Also I have a $10k budget. Can I buy and build a functional skoolie for that and add on as I go?
Your sister is great! Hope she gets her perfect bus🙏🏼 My advice for registration and insurance? We went through an insurance broker, asked for actual cash value insurance, so it’s nearly fully insured, minus the time you put in.$60 a month. It was much easier to get it titled as an rv when we already had full rv coverage👍🏼. Every state is different.. reach out to your state dmv to see what your state requires for your bus to be an rv. Thx again for your vids and inspiration mike! -cam+kat wonderboy bus
Hello! New to the channel. I have a question for you guys. I understand that the roof on buses can be raised, but can you add footage to a short bus? If you bought a short bus and noticed you needed a few feet of living space, could you stretch the back of the bus to add that footage? Thank you!
Does that means you guys can 99% of the time drive the bus without any special license? Amazing!!! Here in Europe everything that is over 3500kg (so around 7717 lb) needs a truck license, and if you drive more than 9 people including the driver, then a bus license xD
If I buy a bus in FL and I don't have a FL license I cant register it. At least that has been my experience with buying a car here. I am a New Yorker. So if you buy a bus out of your home state, how do you get it home with no plates and just insurance?
In my state you can buy a prospective buyers permit to legally drive an unregistered car home, permit lasts for 3 days after you purchase the vehicle. Might be the same in FL
I havent seen anybody talking about the logistics Of purchasing a bus., Ex: We placed a bid, We paid online,,We Fly From FL to Atlanta or Ny to pickup the bus, Now what? Can we legally drive that yellow bus down 1000 miles highway,?? How about insurance, Registration etc?
If it is a short bus or flat nose bus turning can be easier than you might think because of the smaller wheel base. A larger dog nose school bus will take a few K-turns depending on where you are driving.
Hey! I’m a 21 year old girl living in NJ looking to buy my bus in the Spring! Would love to chat with Rachel since we’re kinda in the same boat. Does she have an IG?
This really depends on what state you are in. In some states you don't need to have a driver's license from that state to register a vehicle, but you do need to have an address, a place of residence in that state. I know this is true for Massachusetts. Insurance may be more challenging, so research that before you do anything. I think it's better if you have a longer visa too - 3 months or more. There are videos of travelers from Europe in North America. See if they have any information.
My grandson has the same problem so he's getting a box truck. They have 7' ceilings usually. Watch Dale's video about his box truck (if you haven't already).
Love you Rachel! Bring your smile and joy more often.
Ill add her social links to the description.

See you out there!
I ran into CDL issues with owning a Classic Hearse.. was a pain..
Thank you for taking the time to go over this for us!

Kansas is easy peasy for buying, registration, and insurance. Driving home as well.
