04:08 where some shouts "that's savage". On the right of the video next t the wind turbine there is a grassy path that goes up almost vertical up between The kipps and Scald Law. Brutal hike-a-bike and when going up there with my dad there was an older guy maybe mid 50's cycle right up it on this old 90's XC bike and both my father and I were shocked! It is super steep.
Sometimes on a ride you say it’s not fun until you look back and say how fun it was, those types of rides are always the more memorable ones. I learnt the hard way with my Wahoo bolt falling off and a car ran over it, upgraded to the roam and invested in the lanyard to stop it completely falling off. Enjoy the rest of your journey
14.49 - you've went past a ice prediction weather station again. I can now work out how bad the weather was, to be honest I'm surprised you came across as positive as you did
@@ChrisHallRides light rain from 1.30 to 4.55, starting again and rain properly from 8 o'clock - the bit from Peebles must have been tough. Love the lanes from there to Hawick, tough enough ride when sticking to the roads perfect weather for a duck!

The lanyards are always an essential in my opinion! Thanks for watching!
That's the highest number of grips/hand positions I've ever seen on a mountain bike 😅
Yup it certainly isn't flaming June, still views looked good a nice bunch of folks to share the suffering.
Good company. Shit weather
Love following you on these excursions, Chris -- not exactly "glamorous" but fun to watch (from a safe distance, of course)
Thanks for watching!
That looked epic to me,despite the weather👍
It was pretty dam cool!
Looks like my all points north, last year living the dream weather wise, this year a living nightmare 🤣
😅😅
Hopefully the sun will shine for day 2! Looked hard yards!
Tough old day out that!
The only problem with Dynaplugs is the refill packs seem to be sold out whenever I look in the UK.
Yeah you’re right there haha
I went to Scotland last month but I do want to go back but as a cyclist 🚴🏼
Cool setup on your Bike.
Thank you! Was a fun bike!
A few long days " at the office"" ahead.....what a challenge to do though Chris....cheapeau to all entrants 👏👏
Thank you!
The Ettrick Valley in summer is beautiful........but what a 1st day Chris! 👏 have a grand weekend ! 🍻
I grew up in Hawick - it’s altogether savage 😂
😂

hahaha ice prediction?! That says a lot about what it was like right?

perfect weather for a duck!
'I love cycling' 😄... 🌧🌧🌧
😂
Getting in at the beginning 🚴
✌️
Don't forget rutted field edge gravel!
Oh yes hahaha
It definitely looked like you went from I love cycling moments to “I love cycling” moments 😂.
😂😂😂😂
Well done to all
Thank you!
I HATED that bit 2:00 of the canal path... Always had to walk it for fear of an early bath
Haha yeah it’s a bit tight!
I've always thought you have to push the bike on the Slateford Aqueduct.
@@fitigued Not sure about the "have to" bit, but I was definitely in the minority
Always awesome seeing local trails... the hill you came down at 4.10 I normally go up and it's brutal!
Steep one!
Started off all nice and innocent didn't it till Mother Earth intervened later on :).
Hahahaha exactly
Had to explain Edinburgh is in Scotland, but not where Manchester is…
I live near Manchester so not how my brain works. Incase you aren’t sure it’s in England.
That looked miserable.
Tough day out for sure!
where was the off-road stuff? Dude the name of this video is hella' misleading.
The whole event is mainly off road. A few road sections to connect it. Look up the Pennine Rally.
@@ChrisHallRidesmate you done zero mountain biking. The title suggests you can and did shred. This is why you popped up in my feed. Weak stuff.
