I had the pleasure of exploring the castle and the grounds on my trip to the UK last October. It was beautifullll. One of my favourite shows was the Tudors, so I was pleasantly surprised when my friend planned this excursion for me. The rooms, the halls, the Italian garden... peacefulll & magical.
When I stayed at Hever-I did an excursion over to Willow’s Birds of Prey and spent the day playing with various birds of prey-major checks off my bucket list!! ❤️
Look at those stone storage niches under the window in the great hall! I love old houses. It always surprises me how few bedchambers they had. I visited a huge Victorian-era mansion here in California as a child and it only had three very large bedrooms, too. The guide said they would just put many beds in each room. The best bedroom was for the host or most important couple, then all the other females slept in one room and the males in the other (except for servants). This is so unlike today’s idea of luxury living, where every family member or guest (single or couple) has their own bedroom with walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom.
One can see the electric picture lights in the gallery in one clip showing it full of Tudor-costumed actors. Did/could they “scrub them out” of the final film version?
Anyone know where you can watch the series in the US? Episode 1 was on TH-cam until recently, but it's gone now, and the others too. I can't access British streaming services here. Thanks.
I would love to see hever as it was when she was living there

I never knew Hever had those beautiful Italian gardens, did the Astors add those? Thanks, Dr. Emmerson, love your channel.❤
