No sin for him saying that the inisivle car was spotted without rubble revealing it, when the shot clearly shows rubble bouncing off of the invisible car, thereby revealing it? I'm gonna sin you for not sinning that incorrect CinemaSins sin.
Ikr? the whole camoflauge method is based on light reflectancy, which means It's quite possible given the spot at which Roxanne was located that she was probably the only one who could see the light reflecting off it, and as for megamind who remembered parking it there.
They're their own movies with their own pros and cons Yes, I'm not calling Despicable Me bad because the first one wasn't actually bad, but when Illumination realized they didn't need to try to make money, that's when it went downhill
I thought the 'Metro Man is alive' plotline was brilliant. I haven't agreed with you more than this since your The Last Jedi rant about the fuel sins. Looking forward to CSSS part 2!
I would note, too, that Megamind was appropriately skeptical: "You're kidding, right?" In the commentary track on the DVD, the makers even said they considered several alternate lines for Megamind there, one of them being something like "How do you carry pennies around, then?" Though they didn't go with that, it clearly took more than just the hero's assertion to sell him on the idea that he'd stumbled across his weakness. Of course, what Metro Man specifically said was "Copper drains my powers!" which doesn't necessarily mean it threatens his life the way Kryptonite does to Superman; he might just mean he loses his powers the same way Superman loses his to solar radiation from a red star. Being able to reduce yourself to an ordinary human with no superpowers when you're not out being the hero might even be a convenience in some situations, such as on your wedding night if you ever get the girl. ("Hang on a moment, Lois; gotta slip on my red sun radiation generator.") For that matter, considering that Metro Man's supposed vulnerability to copper proved to be a fraud, one has to wonder what he *would* do on his wedding night to avoid having Superman's problems as discussed in the infamous Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex essay. (Maybe Metro Man didn't have a solution to those problems. Maybe that's why he and the girl were never really a couple, as she eventually revealed to Megamind.)
We need Everything Wrong With Everything Wrong With Coco. Jeremy makes some REALLY dumb sins in that video. One of which I can see beating out the black hole one from this video.
He asked why the guitar wasn't crushed along with La Cruz even though the movie clearly shows him passing it to one of the dancers before he stands under the bell.
The way he worded it was dumb but that sin Is very much valid. There is no way that pod would get away from that black hole because a black hole can suck something as small and light as photons into it
I honestly didn't know what to expect when TH-cam randomly threw this at me. Normally its random nonsense. This time it actually gave me something good. You win this time notification box.
You're right that if metroman had a copper allergy that he wouldn't necessarily be effected by pennies and yet somehow glossed over how pennies aren't made of copper. They are made of zinc and only contained copper around the early 1800's. It's excusable for you (since Europe doesn't have pennies readily available) but not so much for Jeremy.
Your sin about the gravity and the black hole is partially correct. Gravity is a constant force that is applied equally to objects regardless of mass, such as why a golf ball and a bowling ball will hit the ground at the same time if dropped from the same height. However, the planet is pulling the black hole towards itself, such as the moon pulling the ocean towards itself. The reason the escape pod was able to escape is because it was trying to escape the black hole, where the planet was just accepting its fate.
Your comment about gravity is only partially correct as well. It's not that the force of gravity is constant (there is a gravitational constant, but that's not the *force* of gravity), and it's not that it's applied equally. The force of gravity is a force, which is varies with the mass and distance between objects. The force increases as objects gain mass. The reason that the _acceleration_ due to the force of gravity is the same is that adding more mass also means increasing inertia -- which is the resistance to acceleration. It just so happens that the physics of our universe is such that inertia cancels it out, so if you have two objects attracted to a third, and if the third object has sufficiently dominant gravity (like a planet vs a bowling ball), then changing the first two objects' masses won't change the acceleration rate.
@@AnaseSkyrider Also for anyone interested in this phenomenon Relativity actually explains why " It just so happens that the physics of our universe is such that inertia cancels it out," because Gravity is not actually a force. It is more an apparent force.
Also also, the escape volocity from the black hole is independent from the mass of the escaping object, however, shooting a tiny object at immense speeds is muck easier than making a gigantic object (plaent) reach fast speeds.
Sin 4: actually, gravitational acceleration doesn’t depend on the mass of the falling object, and neither does escape velocity (assuming that the object trying to escape is much less massive than the body it’s falling into, which is true for a planet falling in a black hole). Of course what you said is true, more massive objects are pulled more, but that’s irrelevant, since it’s acceleration that matters in this case.
Well, that is also not completely true because while the gravitational acceleration is the same, the acceleration from the engine is slower when the object becomes more massive so a planet would need a stronger engine to counteract the gravitational accleration. ALSO NOBODY SINNED THE FACT THAT THE BLACK HOLE IS A 2D HOLE??!?? That was the actual sin there.
As he says, he doesn't exactly have all the physics terminology right, but the point stands. While gravity will, absent atmospheric influences like wind drag and air viscosity, accelerate objects of any size at the same rate, the amount of energy necessary to change the acceleration, direction, and velocity of any object is directly proportional to that object's mass. In layman's terms, an object the size of a planet needs a MUCH BIGGER ROCKET to help it escape being pulled into a black hole than a baby-sized carrier vessel does. Naturally, Megamind's species (and his parents specifically) didn't have the resources to build a rocket big enough to move their whole planet away from the black hole, but his parents were apparently able to scrape just enough together to build one big enough to fly their infant son (and his minion fish) to safety.
@@RandomPerson-yq1qk Also, the pod starts off literally closer than the accretion disc, so the escape velocity would be relativistic, and the acceleration needed to reach that speed in the seconds it takes would definitely have killed Megamind -- and if it didn't then hose absurdly tight turns would. But, you know, it's a cartoon, so WHO THE HELL CARES, JEREMY???
You've been popping up more and more recently in my suggested, and I actively despised eww Megamind, so I figured I'd check this video out. You did a pretty good job, keep it up
Ok, EverythingWrongwithCinemaSins' understanding of gravity is not as stupid as CinemaSins and let's leave it at that. Now, in the situation Sinned by CS, the size of both planet and vessel are irrelevant; only one is moving away from the black hole at a velocity sufficient to escape it (it's known as "escape velocity!"). Thus velocity, not mass, is the determining factor.
NoneOfYour Beeswax Everyone knows force equals mass per acceleration. If the capsule has less mass than the planet (which is obviously the case), it should be less attracted to the black hole. But you are right, the propulsion is the force that counteracts the pull of the hole.
1) What has terminal velocity got to do with anything, and how does it apply to anything said? Terminal velocity in space? 2) Gravity is not a force. It is a distortion in the space/time continuum caused by mass. 3) It's "affects", not "effects". 4) You're welcome. Have a nice day ;)
The mass is actually relevant. Like you say, acceleration due to the gravity is independent of mass (a bowling ball and a nickle will fall at the same rate), however, because a smaller object requires less energy to accelerate it thus needs less energy to escape (the planet and the escape pod had roughly the same initial velocity but clearly the escape pod won't need as much energy to move). Aslo, you technically don't need escape velocity if you have enough energy to continue counteracting the force of gravity. You can (nearly) escape earth at 1mph on a weather balloon.
Thanks you. You showing my comment makes me really happy. I've been watching your videos for a while now and this means a lot to me. Sorry for my spelling and grammar. I am from Sweden so english is not my first language
Ok, so I saw the thumbnail for this video and thought, "Woooow, This is just some petty fanboy trying to be cynical about movies he loves" but this is honestly hilarious and quite true. Oh, as a proud subscriber of r/megamindmemes I'm happy you made that but at the same time I'm not happy about how I took so long in trying to make some sins to help you with this video, that you managed to make it first. Not to say this video is not 100% great job because it is. I love this channel
I would like to say that I like this video very much! this is my first CSS video and 2 things struck me about his reviewing style of Cinema Sins: First, CSS seems to have a pronounced love for film, just in general. This is the first one of his critiques I have seen, but so far he seems to genuinely care about the film that Cinema Sins is ripping apart with no care or logic. Secondly, I just like his accent. While I could bicker all day about whether a black hole could suck in a small, interstellar vehicle made by a super-advanced race of large headed aliens, (and do the same to its counterpart) or not falls in the category of semantics. By the way, I love discussing theoretical, astrophysical hyperbole. What got me, and what continues to get me about Cinema Sins in general, is there blatant, gross negligence at ignoring the subtle storytelling contained here, or in any movie they "make fun of" nowadays. For example, Sin 21 1/2 (Because the marker didn't tick up to 22 after the statement) Sin 25, and Sin 27. Especially Sin 25. While I agree wholeheartedly with CSS statement of "Part of the fun, part of the charm," there is a big chunk of character development that Cinema Sins decided to dig into, just for a lame joke. The subtle nuisances of Megamind, and everyone else spelling it Titan, and Hal spelling it Tighten are astronomical. Yes, I may be making too many conjectures about such a small quirk, but they are still there to be had, and that's what great writers do. They make characters, settings, and conflicts that are terrific to experience, from beginning to end. This is how the cliche was born. They take their time to make sure the continuity flows well in the story, and Megamind is a great example of wonderful, albeit silly continuity. Megamind is a fun, engaging twist on the superhero genre, and tells a great story about a villain who became an anti-hero, and that, sometimes, the everyday man can become a superhero, or a villain by their actions, no matter what their intentions maybe. And if you've read this far, thank you! As a special treat, my favorite message of the movie. "Megamind, I don't know if you're even listening, but if you are you can't give up. The Megamind I knew would have never run from a fight, even when he knew he had absolutely no chance of winning. It was your best quality. You need to be that guy right now!"
(5:15) A superhero film from the perspective of the villain is _specific_ ? No, you have to add more attributes to it before it gets specific. A superhero film from the perspective of the sidekick of the superhero, a hero who was a sidekick of the villain, but had his view changed due to the destruction of the villain and switch side ... _that's_ specific.
I cant believe you and Jeremy missed the sin that PRACTICALLY EVERY SINGLE ADVERTISEMENT spoiled Metro Man was alive! It ruined what would otherwise be a great twist and probably hurt the box office performance
Seriously, Megamind and Despicable me are even LESS of the same movie than Coco and Book of Life (which are ALSO not at all the same movie, btw) and screw Jeremy for even _thinking_ of claiming otherwise
1:47 As someone who is studying physics (I’m not an expert yet so take this with a grain of salt) it is actually a common myth that things with more mass are disproportionately effected by gravity compared to objects with less mass, when really everything is pulled by gravity at the same speed. You can actually see this yourself if you drop a crumpled up ball of paper and a dictionary at the same time the dictionary and paper will land at the same time. Although planets are just big hunks of rock that are just victims of gravity while the escape pod has a little rocket on it exerting force away from the black hole so if the rocket is powerful enough then it still makes sense for it to escape. Also CS thinking that the gravitational pull on something is affected by the objects mass makes the original sun invalid either way.
Meh, not really If it is only ma=mG/r, mass isn't relevant, but in this situation it is ma=mG/r + Fтяг, we get a still affected by mass, because it gets left in, affecting the propulsion component
Gravity actually affects all objects equally regardless of mass. However, your point kind of still stands because of how black holes work. Every object has an escape velocity, it just happens that a black hole's is above light speed. Using whatever alien technology megamind's species created, it may be going above a black hole's escape velocity. It is likely considering they were travelled to Earth what appears to be no more than a few days rather than thousands or millions of years.
The methane/fart comparison for the copper weakness made me laugh so much I had to pause the video. (Also kudos for it being a very clear explanation for why the original sin didn’t count)
Thank you for this, got really annoyed watching the CinemaSins one. Megamind and any person with all their wits would have called him Titan, but he was an idiot who spelled out Tighten on city blocks in fire - pretty sure no-one would spell it the 'right' way after that. Another thing I thought of while watching this - the invisible car bit: Both Megamind and Roxanne(through kidnappings) likely had plenty of exposure to it so it would likely know what to look for. Tighten was her cameraman, but not nearly as much first-hand experience (plus an idiot) so could be easily fooled by it
In you Age of Ultron video, you never sin the fact that jeremy never mentions how Thor just randomly shows up. They easily could have tacked a scene with Heimdall being like, "Hey, Thor, your friends on earth need your help." And then cut to the action. Instead, they completely gloss over the fact that The Avengers have NO way of contacting any of the Asgardians.
Not trying to be a dick, but both you and Th3Birdman missed a huge sin in RPO. 15:30-15:35 in the original video. "Yes, it scanned Sorrento's face earlier, but that was to log into the OASIS, not the computer. Art3mis is just looking at the IOI Intranet, and Sorrento's personal files, not logging into his account on the OASIS. (Jeremy must not keep his computer or games locked, or does it with the same password.)" the part in the parentheses is a joke, the rest is the important part of the sin
1:57 Don't worry about the terminology for gravity, you got it completely right. Gravitational force is described as follows: F=G*M*m/r^2 which means the larger the masses, the stronger the force.
Wait... do y'all not realize how gravity works? "Space" doesn't have any gravity - objects do. So objects like the Sun, the Earth, the Moon, even ... wait for it ... black holes have gravity. And a black holes gravity would be much, MUCH stronger than Earth's.
Add another for his Prometheus school of running away from things sin as going to the left or right wouldn't do much given the wake of destruction the building is causing. Cinemawins covered the topic in his video and cinemasins still fell for his old joke
I love the Titan/Tighten thing. I choose to view it as Titan being the hero, which is why Megamind annunciates that it's "TitAn" but Tighten is the villain, as the first(?) time we see Hal spell it out it's "Tighten"
When Cinema Sins talks about Metro Man being weak to copper being confusing, it doesn’t even matter if he’s touched it or not because he’s faking the weakness. He should’ve had the evidence from Tighten easily breaking out of the copper trap Megamind makes for him later on in the movie.
I gotta say I love Megamind a heck of a lot more than I liked despicable me. they're barely similar at all. yes, they feature a villain that turns good at the end and that villain has a minion/minions but that's about where it ends. I was kinda excited for cinemasins to do a video on Megamind but he was so mean-hearted about it and that really disappointed me. I did like this video though, keep it up
In regards to the sin about not being able to carry pennies, there was actually a cut line here he asked him how he carried pocket change, but the laser went off before he could answer. And he was lying about the weakness anyway. All he wanted to do was to stall for time for the laser to go off so he can fake his death.

No sin for him saying that the inisivle car was spotted without rubble revealing it, when the shot clearly shows rubble bouncing off of the invisible car, thereby revealing it? I'm gonna sin you for not sinning that incorrect CinemaSins sin.
John Eusebio Everythingwrongwitheverythingwrongwitheverythingwrongwithmegamind
Ikr? the whole camoflauge method is based on light reflectancy, which means It's quite possible given the spot at which Roxanne was located that she was probably the only one who could see the light reflecting off it, and as for megamind who remembered parking it there.
This is getting out of control. There's too much meta!

I thought the 'Metro Man is alive' plotline was brilliant. I haven't agreed with you more than this since your The Last Jedi rant about the fuel sins.
Looking forward to CSSS part 2!
If only they didn’t give away the twist with Metroman in the adverts
Oh gosh, do I wanna know...? I love Coco so I'm not that interested in watching his video...
He asked why the guitar wasn't crushed along with La Cruz even though the movie clearly shows him passing it to one of the dancers before he stands under the bell.
Tyler the Yoshi *face palms so hard my brain is launched from my skull*
Tyler the Yoshi YES IKR like Jeremy USES the clip where he passes the guitar, so idk what he was talking about
The way he worded it was dumb but that sin Is very much valid. There is no way that pod would get away from that black hole because a black hole can suck something as small and light as photons into it
I honestly didn't know what to expect when TH-cam randomly threw this at me. Normally its random nonsense.
This time it actually gave me something good. You win this time notification box.
Bruh, lucky you. YT recommends my own videos to me, WHILE I'M SIGNED IN
You're right that if metroman had a copper allergy that he wouldn't necessarily be effected by pennies and yet somehow glossed over how pennies aren't made of copper. They are made of zinc and only contained copper around the early 1800's. It's excusable for you (since Europe doesn't have pennies readily available) but not so much for Jeremy.
pennies today still have copper, but it's only the outer shell. pennies used to be 100% copper, but now they're something like 90% zinc
Katherine A yes but it's effects on metroman would be far less
true
Europe doesn't have pennies???????? I literally have a 1p coin in my purse and I'm in the UK
Europe has cents, which is pretty much the European equivalent.

Are you saying the movie is good or bad?
@@dthemusicman3070 good
@@dthemusicman3070 a completly underrated movie
I thought it was "satire".
Jay Exci: makes this video
Th3Birdman: there is another
Sin 4: actually, gravitational acceleration doesn’t depend on the mass of the falling object, and neither does escape velocity (assuming that the object trying to escape is much less massive than the body it’s falling into, which is true for a planet falling in a black hole). Of course what you said is true, more massive objects are pulled more, but that’s irrelevant, since it’s acceleration that matters in this case.
Space Warp But at the same time the escape pod has propulsion so sin 5 still applies

After Cinemasins' videos got longer, and to me less about sinning actual sinworthy moments, I've really started to enjot this channel. Subbed
You hit the nail on the head at 10:26
Spongey444 I guess you could say he nailed it eh eh
Leche Quemada No, mass only effects (the point of) terminal velocity, not the force of gravity itself.
Derpa 123456 really? Sorry then, I'm dumb

The poor box office performance was because this movie was marketed poorly.
Jamie Roby well one of the reasons
How does it spoil it? Idk cuz I never saw the advertisements. Or at least I don’t remember them
They didn't advertise the movie. They just assumed that no-one would see it so they didn't really spend too much on advertisements.
Jamie Roby I saw it advertised constantly on Nickelodeon and they all showed the music man clip
so glad everyone has not forgotten about this movie
Seriously, Megamind and Despicable me are even LESS of the same movie than Coco and Book of Life (which are ALSO not at all the same movie, btw) and screw Jeremy for even _thinking_ of claiming otherwise
1:47
As someone who is studying physics (I’m not an expert yet so take this with a grain of salt) it is actually a common myth that things with more mass are disproportionately effected by gravity compared to objects with less mass, when really everything is pulled by gravity at the same speed.
Meh, not really
If it is only ma=mG/r, mass isn't relevant, but in this situation it is ma=mG/r + Fтяг, we get a still affected by mass, because it gets left in, affecting the propulsion component
(Also kudos for it being a very clear explanation for why the original sin didn’t count)

megamind is a masterpiece
Thank you for this, got really annoyed watching the CinemaSins one. Megamind and any person with all their wits would have called him Titan, but he was an idiot who spelled out Tighten on city blocks in fire - pretty sure no-one would spell it the 'right' way after that. Another thing I thought of while watching this - the invisible car bit: Both Megamind and Roxanne(through kidnappings) likely had plenty of exposure to it so it would likely know what to look for. Tighten was her cameraman, but not nearly as much first-hand experience (plus an idiot) so could be easily fooled by it
Please do Everything wrong with "Everything wrong with Coco" as soon as possible.
You gotta do their latest video on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. That video make me so mad.
I've not made an Age of Ultron video...
Hint hint.
Why didn't you sin the running Prometheus joke in that vid? It doesn't make sense in context, and is just a lazy way to shove in the running joke.
Well this time the “joke” actually makes sense
Megamind is FAR better than despicable me.
That was a way better "name of my sex tape" joke than the one from the original sins video
I've been waiting for this since I saw both the EGW and the EWW. Thank god you were this quick with it.
I love these, Mate.
1:57 Don't worry about the terminology for gravity, you got it completely right. Gravitational force is described as follows: F=G*M*m/r^2 which means the larger the masses, the stronger the force.
Sin 3 well he did once say there is no gravity in space
cat foy there is gravity, it's just not as strong as Earth's gravity.
David Ray that’s the point
He also corrected himself in a video released before this one was released
Wait... do y'all not realize how gravity works? "Space" doesn't have any gravity - objects do. So objects like the Sun, the Earth, the Moon, even ... wait for it ... black holes have gravity. And a black holes gravity would be much, MUCH stronger than Earth's.
Yeah but there's a black hole
You and Cinema Wins are the best creators who use this format! You're awesome, keep it up!
Add another for his Prometheus school of running away from things sin as going to the left or right wouldn't do much given the wake of destruction the building is causing. Cinemawins covered the topic in his video and cinemasins still fell for his old joke
Should have zigzagged to confuse the building.
I love the Titan/Tighten thing. I choose to view it as Titan being the hero, which is why Megamind annunciates that it's "TitAn" but Tighten is the villain, as the first(?) time we see Hal spell it out it's "Tighten"
I sub and bell any parody that passes the quality of the original in production value, and general good-ness.
Lol, I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed the gravity mistake. Well done sir 👍

Luke Lay yech, no. He was right to sin that terrible "movie".
Luke Lay I made a script for that video and Jay is working on it.
David Ray 1) It's not terrible. 2) Even Jay sins Sin Videos on terrible movies, like Emoji Movie.
Pretty much all of the dr Seuss movies fell flat
