    I remember riding one of these at Santa’s Village in Dundee, Illinois around 1979/81.
    Still have the vision and memory of the sunlight at the top of the silo.
    Thanks for the video and memories.

    Hershe Park had two of them in the 70s. Neat to see one again.

    I remember riding one of these as a kid at Adventureland in Farmingdale, NY back in the 70s. I remember it being a very rough ride.

    Nice shot of the reflection in the pond! You gave the ride a sense of beauty it doesn't deserve. The Toboggan isn't a coaster; it's a cruel torture device. Those dips in the track are violent enough to herniate a disk.

      Thanks for the comment - and yes, I agree, the toboggan is indeed a bit of a torture device :-)
      This one was the prototype too, although not sure the subsequent builds gained from any learning!

    There was one of these at the Los Angeles County Fair when I was a kid. I was too short to ride, but my big sister enjoyed it.

      ***** The cars look hideous and uncomfortable, and that one dip looks painful.

    • @davidjellis
      @davidjellis 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are three dips, albeit 1 and 2 and the worst, 3 is fairly small.

    They had one at Santa's Village in Illinois (forget the town).

    It's a headbanger coming out of the helix; I remember that from Playland when it was there in the 70s and 80s. I was curious when I 1st saw it there in '77 and finally rode it some time in the early-mid 80's ONCE and never rode it again. Still, I always find POVs of this on youtube funny. BTW the Toboggan coaster premiered in 1971 managed to read that in a caption of a pic of it in a Pennsylvania Coaster book reviewed by Canada Coaster Fan aka Ryan.

      This one (which was the very first design) originally opened in 1969 according to RCDB, but it hasn't been to Playland, so must have been another one of them which you rode in the 70s and 80s. rcdb.com/2174.htm

    • @davidjellis
      @davidjellis 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      RCDB doesn't provide any other locations for the one at Playland rcdb.com/2683.htm

    • @Paolo8772
      @Paolo8772 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It must not have been the prototype but it was def. a clone; there was def. one there in the late 70s and I rode it once after years of curiosity and never never rode again after banging my head. But Earthquake Mcgoon's Brain Rattler is a name funny name I never knew it was called. As painful as this ride is it is kinda funny; with the vertical lift hill and the silly looking cars. In any case, thanks for posting.

      Did you see my other reply - that was the one at Playland rcdb.com/2683.htm which was there until 1979

      I understand. Playland called it "The Wild Rat"

    Wow, never seen anything like this. I barely noticed there was a nuclear symbol on the inside of that incline tunnel, did that use to be a nuclear silo that's been repurposed?

      Not as far as I am aware...it's a standard model by Chance Morgan, but very few of them are still around these days

    Weird Question and I know I'm late, but do you any information on why the Toboggan at Conneaut Lake Park in Pennsylvania is In Storage. I've been looking everywhere and I can't find it and I want it to operate again, just seeing a roller coaster laying down on the ground is hurtful to me (for some reason). Just curious if you know anything about it and if you do please tell me, thanks.

    • @davidjellis
      @davidjellis 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly I don't - I am just so pleased Conneaut Lake is still operating with all the financial troubles they have had there - toboggan coasters are getting very old so not many are operating and it may be that the park needs to pay for repairs and it might be costly as spares won't be made for these rides. Just supposition, I don't know, but you could email the park?

    Wow that vehicle also reminds me of a Chance SkyDiver! What is it like to get caged in? ;-)

    • @davidjellis
      @davidjellis 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A bit claustrophobic so some riders might feel a little mentally uncomfortable, as well as physically uncomfortable!

    • @spacemountain4760
      @spacemountain4760 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess I would have mixed feelings - quite forceful in the helices and bumpy in the last part! ;-)

    I don't know what you mean by 'rare', this thing was everywhere in the 70;s and 80's. Unfortunately, I know what it is like to be stuck on the lift....many times-maybe that is why it is rare now...is that what you mean?

    • @davidjellis
      @davidjellis 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apart from a few travelling models this is the only one of its type that still operates at a permanent park - that is rare I think.

    • @urusoimi
      @urusoimi 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh I see. Well, it really wasn't built for a permanent park. I can see how it is rare.
