Hi Sarah! I am German born and raised and been eating quite a few schnitzel in my life. Germans use pork instead of chicken but I use chicken or beef as well since I live in the US. We don’t use any zested lemon peel in the coating, however in Germany the schnitzel, pronounced schnit--zel, is being served in restaurants with a few lemon wedges to squeeze over the schnitzel if one likes to. We salt and pepper the meat before dredging it in flour that has also been seasoned with salt and pepper. Just thought you might want to know😀
I've only had it as pork. A restuarant in my MN area does it. Pounds those baby's out, nice and thing and served with hunters mushroom gravy and spaetzle. Yummo!

@@izzybling4439 Well, I did see a vid with one cup of sugar and one cup mayo, sour cream and vinegar. To be quite honest, it was enough to make me nauseous. It may have been the Amish ( Wanda) Mac salad... I'm not sure. They're all alike after awhile.
Im Austrian, from the original Country of Schnitzel, and yours don't look bad! Instead of Panko bread crumbs we use Kaiser Roll crumbs, and we even use more oil in the pan and keep pouring the hot oil over the top of the Schnitzel which makes it extra crispy! I love dipping them in cranberry sauce, and we always squeeze some lemon on top right before serving, but adding lemon zests to the crumbs is a good idea too. :)
Oh my goodness, I'm always excited to see what you have cooking! Some of your previous recipes have been added to my normal recipe rotation. Thanks for cooking for us!
I love thinner slices of chicken. It’s so easy to work with and cooks quickly. This looks really good. I will make this this week! Thank you sweet Sarah!!!!
My Mom was from Vienna, Austria. This is their specialty! You can also use pork cutlets. The traditional meat was veal, but we don’t use it. Nice job! 😊
This looks so yummy Sara! I was wondering if you could share some meatless Monday recipes? I know you used to do some vegetarian recipes :) I’d love to see a couple more!
Sarah honey looks good but that’s not schnitzel we don’t use panko crumbs first off we use plain breadcrumbs, and Schnitzel is made from veal . I’m German .
Lovely! I like to make pork schnitzel. I grate a fair bit of nutmeg into the breadcrumbs, season the flour a little and the meat. The zest sounds good with chicken :)
I love this chicken recipe its so easy too make and 100% perfection. I just have trouble deciding what too serve with them?? I am thinking mashed or baked potatoe and some veggie with garlic bread

Half German here... Usually Veal or Pork for the traditional but Turkey(Putenschnitzel) and Chicken are also acceptable.
I made this on Saturday. The flavor was delicious and the pieces that I pounded the thinnest turned out the best. Thanks for the recipe and lesson!

oooo lemon zest in the panko! Will def be trying that!
Im here wondering. Wasn’t Sarahs cooking show featured on TLC? Or it could be someone else? I’m not exactly sure?
I had a schnauzer named Schnitzel.
if you refrigerate your crumbed schnitzels for an hour or so before cooking, the crumbs are less likely to fall off during cooking.

This is probably a dumb question, but how do you make sure the eggs don't wash off the flour?
@ Skylar...That's not a dumb question. The flour gives the meat a dry surface for the eggs to stick to, then the bread crumbs stick to the wet eggs.
