@@BrandiLeeOutdoors It's called Crown Lands here and there is lots of access through forest access roads used by wood harvesters and for fire fighting if required
63% of my county is Ouachita National Forest which is managed by the Forest Service. I haven't taken the time to go scout out campsites since every day on my land is like camping, but most of our tourism is campers. So I assume there's plenty of excellent camping around for anyone visiting the area. Ginger looks to be behaving well off the leash. Glad to see it. Loved her little mohawk when she got spooked.
Not much BLM land in my area. FYI, another place to look for cool camp sites is Hipcamp. People rent out their private land to campers. I’m looking forward to late next year when I have some vacation days to take my dog to a Hipcamp around Big Bend National Park for his birthday. That area ranks high as a “dark sky” area, which should make it really good for stargazing.
BLM land in Canada is referred to as Crown Lands and there's a loop hole apparently in the law that permits anyone to set up a camper as long as it has wheel and is considered "mobile" and camp there indefinitely. Which I'd have no problem if a person is going to keep it in good condition, but one area that I frequent I see several like that first one you came upon, they are in total disrepair, abandoned and now an eyesore with glass and metal and nails in boards all around really bad for the pups. But for over nighters like us there are loads of lands minutes from me , Ginger doing great with the off leash training , and I can see she loves to explore , great to get them off leash and have their freedom hope you have an awesome week
Check out Twin Lakes, Coffeepot Lake, Swanson Lakes area out between Davenport and Odessa. Lotsa great little spots that seem to get overlooked. I'm lucky on dog training. My latest rescue Rukus is very smart, seems to LIKE rules and structure, and listens well. He'd only been in a tiny fenced yard, or on a leash prior, so the freedom of the wheat fields was awesome to see. He'd just rip around in a big 400 yard or so circle as hard as he could run, over and over. One day I noticed he was interested in my big drone, so I bought a smaller one for him, his favorite thing on the planet next to loves. Let's his inner wolf out and just goes completely apeshit chasing it, lunging, snapping, barking. Good way to get a Dobie's steps in fairly quickly. Up until this year (have had him almost 5) he could hold 30 mph for almost half a mile before he started sagging. Getting old, so slowing down a bit. I'm watching for a pup to pick up next, so he can help train it. Get a head start that way. You guys should join us for a trip or two! My XJ's currently in Airway Heights solving the angle issues on the driveline due to the lift, but a few of us out here in the puckerbrush will be doing a few light to medium level excursions. The more the merrier, and we're both a safe crew to hang with, and you might well pee a little laughing from time to time.
Hi Brandi Lee i'm in Ontario Canada here there are a lot of rules to follow for all types of camping Most require a permit the BLM or crown lands are pertty well managed if you leave a mess it is cleaned up your expence they check on you while your camping so things like that duct taped camper dosen't happen years ago it was all camp as you like but people always tend to screw things up for everyone lol we can't even take care of our planet someone should have kicked us off the planet before we trashed it lol 😊💕✌
Hey Brandi, Love your dog Ginger. Do you still have Tater? I lived in Washington state back in the early 90's, I miss the trees. Hope you have a great New Years.
Thanks! Yes, Tater is bringing in the new year with Ginger.. Lol What part of Washington did you live in? The earlier 90s in Washington was the place to be! So much fun!! I miss those days in the valley! 🌲☘️🪵🏕
@ScottGibson-r7d I haven't been to Silvercreek, but I have been to Chehalis and spent a bit of time in Toledo as a child, my Grandparents had a cattle ranch down there. Good memories!! 🩵

@TheBackwoodsHermit I prefer National Forest, but Washington state has really gotten bad in the last 20 years with so many passes you need. 🏕

Yes, it's become really bad in the last 20 years with all the garbage in the woods in my home state.. Sad!
Such a shame people can’t clean up after themselves. You’d expect better from people who enjoy spending time in nature
