Sometimes I really think that the MLB couldn't care less about any player not named shohei they gave less attention to Judge hitting 62 and Acuna's 40-70 combined and now we have an entire generation of fans who have been convinced that hes the greatest to ever play
Quick question.. is it “Most Valuable Hitter” or Most Valuable Player 🤔 pretty sure there are awards for hitters specific (Edgar Martinez, Hank Aaron, Silver Slugger..) that’s all I have to say.
Well, multiple players were talked about to join the race on the NL MVP in different stages of the league now but guess who was always there all along ? Shohei.
I like Lindor, but if he would've been good the first have, the Mets would be in the playoffs no problem. They already chose Ohtani even though he never wore a glove this season.
Ohtani has bWAR 7.4 and Lindor has 6.4bWAR via Baseball Reference. Lindor has fWAR 7.2 and Ohtani 6.8 fWAR - For a DH where he’s penalized. Also, WPA - Ohtani is 7.4 Wins and Lindor is 6.4 wins. Let’s not complicate this and give bogus argument for Lindor. 😂
Dodgers still make the postseason without Ohtani but the Mets wouldn’t even be close like they are without Lindor. WAR is a made up number that has no accuracy so I’d throw that away. Batting numbers are the only thing Shohei has. If we’re considering him the MVP as a DH, where’s Big Papis MVPs?!?
So fWAR number says that Lindor is responsible for 1 more win this year than Ohtani. One win a year. That is pretty insignificant. Ultimately, WAR is flawed, and "most valuable" is subjective. So, this whole debate is subjective. Everyone will have their own opinion.
So they just proved the actual definition of “ MVP “ is not really used anymore. Ohtani is having a GREAT season and I love that guy, but VALUABLE player is different than impressive player. Sounds like these guys don’t actually watch the games, just the highlights.
Its called most valuable player, not most valuable hitter. There's a separate award for best offensive player, it's called a silver slugger. There's a reason the MVP rarely if ever goes to a DH. Can't give an award for Most Valuable Player to someone who can impact half of the game and only plays on one side of the ball. Defense does matter, especially at one of the prime positions such as SS & CF. Playing 162 at a prime position both in the box and field is way more valuable than someone who is in the game on avg 4 times to only bat. It's also not a coincidence that ohtani's #'s are the best he's ever had when he's only hitting and not needing to use energy pitching or playing the field. Fatigue, wear & tear are real and do play a major factor in a players performance. I'd bet that next season when he also has to pitch every 5th day while hitting dh, his #'s will be nowhere near what they are this season for that reason alone.
The fact that people actually think Shohei should win the MVP just for a 50/50 is disgusting. Lindor is more valuable hands down, but to say that if shohei falls short of 50 he won't is just disrespectful. I know shogei is winning unanimously, and im pissed about it, butthe narrative is what really irks me. Also, chris young is sitting here saying "we aint talking about feelings were talking about facts" and then says "well of we change lindors stats per half he wouldnt win it"... what a moron.
Can we please stop with these SB headlines. It's all bullshit at this point. Can only pick over twice, and you're racing the pitch clock. It's a dead stat
@sadiwho9724 agreed. Its fun to see steals back in the game, but giving away MVPs for steals is silly. Acuna had 73 plus the rest of his stats last year, shohei just has 50/50 as a DH, nothing else hes doing is outrageous. He and Lindor wouldnt even be top 3 in the AL which makes it even funnier.
@@gDiniM they both still would be. SO is hitting the life out of the ball, and Lindor is carrying the Mets to a wild card literally on his own. I just don't get the stolen bags being celebrated anymore. I'd be more disappointed if those guys didn't have crazy numbers with how easy it is
Sometimes I really think that the MLB couldn't care less about any player not named shohei they gave less attention to Judge hitting 62 and Acuna's 40-70 combined and now we have an entire generation of fans who have been convinced that hes the greatest to ever play
We saw Altuve win MVP over Aaron Judge so its not IMPOSSIBLE for lindor to win
No one is mentioning how the dodgers are stacked compared to how Lindor is carrying the Mets
So many injuries this year. Shohei has been dragging the Dodgers with them the entire season.
"Writers like the fact that Francisco Lindor is the shortstop of the NY yankees"
Nice
LOL... i thought i heard that. doh. smh,.
😂😂

yeah this is the one tbh
robbing lindor of all star AND mvp this year would be so ridiculously fraudulent
Well.. hitting is the most valuable tool for a position player BY FAR. That's why normally the best hitter wins the MVP award.
Well, multiple players were talked about to join the race on the NL MVP in different stages of the league now but guess who was always there all along ? Shohei.
🤣
LINDOR NL MVP !!!!! LGM!!!

Lindor mvp
Give Lindor a GOLDEN GLOVE award then!!!
Greg is like the biggest Ohtani fan. He's playing devil advocate here!
araez is the new ichiro
Skenes will win roty if he has a sub 2 era no he will win because the MLB wants him to and that's really all that matters

Bottom line. “Shohei is NL MVP”. 2024.
LMAO now show the real WAR, bWAR Ohtani is a FULL point ahead of Lindor LOL!!
MVP is the best player in Offense and Defense is equal to: FRANCISCO LINDOR.
@@g-comas Yeah with 800 ops in delusional league.
😢
It doesn't matter, My D-backs have the best Offense in the Majors and are putting Fear into other Fan Bases
Its a joke, the Lindor narrative in the media. His offensive numbers are no where near close.
You know defense is a thing too right ?

@orion7311 and his GG defense and great baserunning.
Dudes a 5 tool player. Ohtani is a 700 million dollar DH. Pathetic MVP.
@@gDiniM lol, the one that is pathetic is Lindor. Ohtani has 2 MVPs and what does Lindor have. Doesn't even have stats for MVP caliber year.
@orion7311 if you cant see that of the NL pool of players that he is minimum a close runner up, thats on you bro 🤣
@@gDiniM unfortunately only to his fans it is close. For people who know ball, the MVP is very clear, it's Ohtani and no one is really close.

Lindor has nothing to do in the list he's the only one who has no control over his "chase"
