I've seen one or two comments about cost, and value. Let me be 100% clear about this. I'm still well with under how much it would have cost to buy a new or used truck and then modded the way I wanted to. that's even including all the bullshit unnecessary things that I've done to it to make it how I want. I'll break it down in a concert video very soon showing you tick for tack how much I've spent on stuff that I do and do not need. These trucks used with similar miles go for mid-to-high $40k. Considering the fact that this truck had an original sticker price of almost $80,000, I think it's safe to say the value is very clearly there when rebuilding salvage.
Mad respect for doing what your doing with the dually and not shying away now it's got a little hard... I still totally think you should do a virticle exit big rig style exhaust tho 👌😂😉

As someone who’s done a frame change, it sucks. But it’s a great learning experience especially for someone who’s still learning the mechanical side of the vehicle. When you see the heart and the lungs of your vehicle exposed and bust the wrenches yourself it puts a whole new respect for your truck in your mind. It’s great to see that you’ll be helping them work and I’m excited to see the process of it and the experience you will gain and best of luck to you and your truck, god bless ya dan.

The exhaust coming out the bumper would be awesome! I like the afterburner idea too. Maybe recess the afterburner cones into the bumper so theyre not sticking out but still visible.
Senior dan. Idk if it’s the same with the 3500 but 2500s have an issue with torsion lifts putting to much angle on the upper ball joints. I had that issue with my 2500 and Zone makes a quality “2.5 lift”. So if you have a torsion lift in it will replace the torsion key lift with bigger control arms that go out a little bit further and resolve the issue of the gnarly ball joint angle

I’d look on car-part for the cab corner/side. I’ve built over 100 reparable cars and you can tell the junk yard just to cut that section that you need instead of ordering whole piece from gm

You could definitely do a frame swap in a garage and driveway, if you have the space. It's just space and time consuming, as you have to swap everything between the two. It's like a complex Lego set, and you need to replace the inner-most pieces. But having a shop do it with a group of people makes things a lot easier.
You guys you can get new 3500hd frames for around 3-5 grand it isn’t as bad as y’all make it out to be. Heck I found one on a gmparts wholesaler based out of a local dealership here in Grand Rapids for 2500
Be sure to get the frame coated before you get everything installed on it if you plan on keeping the truck for a long time, not only will at add tremendous value to the truck it's way cheaper to do it while swapping in a new frame than having to pull everything off again and redoing it.

I used to work at a GM dealer, and was surprised by how little a frame actually costs. I mean it's not cheap by any means but definitely isn't a deal breaker. We had a tech that would get a truck in from our body shop and swap everything over to the new frame in about a day. Pretty impressive undertaking, I think GM calls for like 20 hours or something like that for the job.

my brother and i did a frame swap with his truck in our garage and let me tell you... that shit took FOREVER. definitely was a good learning experience though with swapping everything over and working with what we had. not something i’d do again tho that shit was difficult

Word of wisdom to anyone, when buying a salvaged vehicle, always go and get the frame checked by a specialist before beginning custom work

This was a welding rig from west Texas the metal bed is why it has cab damage and a twisted frame this truck did not have a box I’d bet
colton Harper probably had a metal work body on it at some point, which is how it crushed the cab so far

You're incredibly lucky that the shop allows you to be hands on with the truck while in the shop. Most shops see it as a liability

It won't even be close to 80k my guess is 30-40 including the cost of the truck. The frame is 3500-5k but it's brand new, so he could get one cheaper.

My family has used Magnum Collision for year. They do great work and always have exotics parked out front.
