Your words, and the wonderful feelings they express, are truly heart warming. May they return to you and those who love a thousand times over. Today is February 12, 2024. On February 13, 1983, Marvin Gaye sang the Star-Spangled Banner at the NBA All Star Game. I'm passing it on to my Facebook friends. Oh Marvin, you are so missed.
It crazy that he would be 85 today yet he was 43 when he sang this song here, rest in paradise marvin gaye forever young 1939 - 1984 he was LITERALLY a day shy of turning 45 when his own dad murdered him that night, it been 40 years without marvin gaye now what a terrible loss for the rest of the family
Gaye's death certificate In the early afternoon of April 1, 1984, Gaye intervened in a fight between his parents in the family house in the West Adams neighborhood of Western Heights[5] in Los Angeles. He became involved in a physical altercation with his father, Marvin Gay Sr.,[106] who shot Gaye twice, once in the chest, piercing his heart, and then into his shoulder.[106] The shooting took place in Gaye's bedroom at 12:38 p.m. Gaye was pronounced dead at 1:01 p.m. after his body arrived at California Hospital Medical Center, the day before his 45th birthday
Praise the LORD! This song gives you the impression that you can have a healthy Divine relationship with sexuality instead of a hellish destructive one. Amen

This song was talking about how when having sex with the right person (not casual sex that this world promotes) it can literally heal your body. “Whenever blue teardrops are falling, and my emotional stability is leaving me. I know you’ll be there to relieve me, the love you give to me will free me” “ if you don’t know the thing you’re dealing” most women don’t even recognize their vagina has the power to heal when aligned with the right person. Happy 80th birthday Marvin! Silky Silky Soul Singer! I remember seeing you in concert at the Lake Charles, Louisiana Civic Center several months before you were selfishly taken away from us! It was one of the best concerts I've been too. And when you sang Sexual Healing wearing your red silk pajamas and dropped your pants 😂 I don't think my city ever recovered from the screaming crowd. Rest peacefully in God's loving arms and thanks for sharing your undeniable talent with the world!

I was 22 years old walked into a party with a friend he went AWOL i was left alone never knew anybody.....I was standing alone a beautiful girl said Alex how are you i never knew her, then this record came on and she walked over to me and started singing it in my ear....HAPPY DAYS!!
Early 1980's when this single first came out, " Mike Lippenstein's Bar formerly at Bay Place, and Shore Road in Seaford Long Island- the Bar's jukebox had the single song when it first came out. I was eleven years and an only child. My parents were clientele of Mike's and I as a child got to go once every three months. At that young age ran a tab, drank orange soda on the rocks,... etc. The Bar closed a few months after this song by Marvin came out. The " Rail" as his establishment is forever a memory now. The Bar was decommissioned as he and his wife retired and moved permanently to Florida. A nearby Marina purchased the bungalow Mike's Bar was in years later, knocked the building down and winter storage for smaller pleasure pays is on the footprint of the former venue. Thank you Marvin, they played your Healing song this morning on morning drive time !😊( 2024)
80s and 90s was great for black music... but now it's a joke. it's just about making money. It has gone down the drain. It's all about the hip hop these days.
This song is older than me, but still sounds like it was just released and still manages crush everything that's out there now. There's a lot of music that is timeless, but this doesn't sound like the 80;s to me. It sounds like something that was beamed in from somewhere else.
To answer the question: Marvin Gaye was shot and killed by his own father. I believe that it was right after the release of the recording for Sexual Healing. Marvin's father had been a Pastor at some point, but had been living with Marvin in his own home. There was an argument about $, and Marvin Sr. shot Marvin Jr in cold blood. Marvin Sr went to jail for the murder and spent years in a medical prison wing. Marvin Sr now deceased.
To Question Everything: I heard years ago that Marvin Sr was found to have mental health issues, and that was why he spent the majority of his sentence in a medical prison wing.
This song is responsible for half the population!

Here in Senegal the weather is fine. It's neither cold nor hot. I'm an English teacher but in my country people speak french And it's cool to have a friend from england.
@@amadoumoustaphadieng8660 you can add me on Facebook, Simon Noble York.... You have a good job teaching English. I only speak a few words in French... My city is York, A rowan town with a river. I live in the North East of England. Take care my brother 🙏👍
This is a masterpiece. I wasn't born when it was released but it's legendary music. Timeless❤️ Rest in peace, Marvin 🙏
Timeless... that's the right word to describe this masterpiece
This was Marvin Gaye's last great hit song before his untimely death in 1984.
You were a result of this song 😂 just on a lighter note! no offence
Rhyming 'oven' with 'loving' is not the mark of a masterpiece.
@@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx You're entitled to your own opinion . Thank you.
Marvin gaye wish you were still here today. Your music rocks.
I remember when he died. So tragic. I loved his music. We lose the best so young. RIP magic man.
Need to blame his father for that one :-/
@@ZEUSDAZ his father is one sorry sob hopefully he gets what he deserves for this.
His father sucks.

Pure melody and awesome vocals. . . .❤
No one ever could sing like MARVIN! RIP.....the world lost a true genius
❤️ I couldn’t agree more Marvin Gaye was one my favorite performers! It’s a shame he got treated badly by Berry Gordy
His death was a very sad. He was murdered. The details are not nice, look it up. So very sad. 😢😥
@@maccabbee2014 what’s the tragic part is that, his own father did him in ! Sometimes your family can do you in worse than strangers 😮

Without a doubt💯
Isn’t this Motown?
Motown is the label bro, if you want, it’s the Motown feel but it’s rnb
@@kabalayouri419 no, Marvin’s genre was called Motown. King of Motown
@@manlikemars2929 Then Michael jackson genre was also motown ? Lionel richie, stevie wonder, diana ross ? it's not because they signed to motown and had a certain feel that their style is motown, do a quick search you'll see
My mom used to sing Marvin Gaye's songs all the time and ' Sexual Healing ' was one of them. Even though she's no longer here anymore whenever I hear this song I think of her. Marvin Gaye is someone we can never forget especially for me because he was a big part of my childhood. I love him so much 💯💯💯💯

Simply fabulous 💕
I agree...no disrespect to women a true gentleman.
It sounds NOTHING LIKE IT CAME OUT TODAY...TODAY ONLY SHIT IS MADE...
He did come up with the music for this song, but he didn't write it... still good anyways.
This song is such a beautiful masterpiece. It can be raunchy without being twisted and vulgar. This is the true meaning of feel good music
Well said!
So why a song of Nowadays nougthy artists Can easily get 1 billion views and a song of Legend less than 100 M views? Perhaps TH-cam is partial

T Weston he’s the best r&b singer of all time but he wasn’t selfishly taken away, he was beating his father

Thank you Marvin, they played your Healing song this morning on morning drive time !😊( 2024)
This song is soooo dang iconic!!! Wish music like this was still playing.
Something abt this song , just gets u right in the mood , proud of black music 👏🏾

Shara Yes, the same race with DIFFERENT CULTURES
80s and 90s was great for black music... but now it's a joke. it's just about making money. It has gone down the drain. It's all about the hip hop these days.
So much black American music is healing and soothing to the soul..Marvin was the master at that...

This song is older than me, but still sounds like it was just released and still manages crush everything that's out there now. There's a lot of music that is timeless, but this doesn't sound like the 80;s to me. It sounds like something that was beamed in from somewhere else.

I cried the day Marvin was shot. To have that voice silent is sad even now.
His voice is still very much alive and will always be
I meant silent in the physical sense. Of course his music will last forever That is the blessing even in sadness of Marvin's death.
😢😢🙏😢😢
