  • Hello and welcome to Train Simulator Classic!
    Today we're having a look at the brand new route addon from Niklas which is available for free via the Steam Workshop! This route includes a wide network of South East London for us to explore, including some new sections we've never seen before!
    We're going to be driving a scenario by Magic Toad, which will see us take a pair of Class 375's on a London Charing Cross to Hastings service as far as Tonbridge, where a relieving driver will take over. Due to engineering works London Cannon Street is closed, and so traffic is a bit lighter than usual, but there's still plenty to see!

    I need to download this. Hastings was my depot when I was a driver with SE. Have done that line more time then I care to remember.

    It's interesting that the scenario puts you through P4 at London Bridge, which is one of the Thameslink platforms rather than 6 or 7 which would be the normal ones for services from Charing Cross

    • @jacksebsmith
      @jacksebsmith ปีที่แล้ว +3

      On this route it's the old London Bridge station before the big rebuild, which back then P4 was all southbound trains from Charing Cross. Thameslink southbound trains used P5. P6 was all northbound trains to Charing Cross as well as Thameslink northbound services.

    If only you saw the 6 or maybe even more trains you can have racing out of clapham junction - certainly a spectacle especially when you're on the train

    A great video on my current patch (until March when I need to learn about 150s and 185s 🤣) Some answers below:
    Thankfully nowadays TL run over two seperate lines from SE between south of Waterloo East & through London Bridge - this section of route is set before the rebuild from 2015-18. Having grown up down here it's so good to have more of SE in game.
    That power station is a waste incinerator!
    In terms of the liveries, the 465s are in the old Southeastern livery design that matched their brand from 2007-2014 (375609/624/705 went into this livery initally too). After that, the brand was redesigned (the logo had the full stop removed from it) and the livery going forward is all over blue as seen on the 375s and 707s & soon the 376s. 707s have only run is passenger service in Blue on SE with the seat covers replaced to a design that matches the rest of the SE Mainline/Metro fleet.
    Orpington Bay platforms are served by 2tph CST stoppers & 2tph to VIC via Bromley S & Herne Hill. That 700 departing would've been on a diverted Sevenoaks to Blackfriars service, running via Orpington to Bromley South instead of via Bat & Ball and Swanley. This is also evident because you went into P4 at Sevenoaks as normally the TL terminate in 4 with the down mainlines using 3 however you cannot access the Up mainline from Platform 4, so they switch round when that service is diverted.
    The 707s/376s and 465s cover pretty much the entirity of the SE metro network, apart from services out of Victoria that are entirely 465. The big issue with SE's fleet is they don't have enough of one type of train so the metro is a real mix. Southeastern also still have the 23 377/5s subleased from GTR which have to operate seperately from the 375s as they're incompatible.
    The 100mph running continues after Tonbridge all the way to just outside Ashford!

  • @jacksebsmith
    @jacksebsmith ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Not quite Battersea, but Bermondey! It's the South East London Combined Heat and Power station in South Bermondsey. Basically it's a huge incinerator that converts waste to power.
    Orpington is the terminus for metro to Victoria (via Bromley South, Beckenham Junction, and Herne Hill), Cannon St (via Grove Park and Lewisham), and early morning and late evening Charing Cross stoppers which start/finish at Sevenoaks during the day. There are also peak hour Thameslink trains to Luton/St Albans via the Catford Loop which start/finish at Orpington on weekdays.
    The Networkers aren't going anywhere for a while. The 707s are a supplementary mini fleet of only 30 units which will displace a few of the 465/2s but the majority of the Networker fleet will still be the mainstay on SE Metro until a whole fleet replacement is sourced which will be many years away yet.
    The 707s that are now in SE colours have done away with their former SWT interiors, sporting lovely orange grab rails and the usual blue Southeastern moquette :)

    Joe at Orpington that 700 is doing Orpington-Blackfriars and the 465’s go to London Charing X (I believe) and London Victoria (I know).
    Edit: I believe the 707’s SE have been allocated to London canon st to Hayes services and I THINK a few Orpington or Sevenoaks services maybe not sure

    • @jacksebsmith
      @jacksebsmith ปีที่แล้ว

      All Hayes services go to Charing Cross now since Dec 22, they don't run in to Cannon St anymore. 707s appear on most metro diagrams out of Charing Cross and Cannon St now, they're not exclusive to a certain route.

    Hi Joe, great video!
    About the livery - basically the idea is to turn all trains into the dark blue livery - the 375s were painted when they went for their refurbishment up in Derby. With the 465s, I doubt they will need a reapaint within their remaining life time. The 376s desperately need a refurb and just an overall paint, and when that happens it should be into the dark blue.
    As with the 707s, they only have been in service in the blue vinyl livery. When they were coming from SWR, they were coming as a pair from Waterloo every two weeks, and then taking two weeks to be converted into SE condition. As with the interiors - SE have replaced the seat covers with the southeastern moquette. All the trains got the SE Moquette, apart from originally 009 + 010 got the Thameslink moquette temporarily (due to being the first units done).
    For the 365s, all bar 3 cars are scrapped, which those 3 cars are a static unit at the East Kent Railway. WIth the 465s, they have no imminent replacement, as the 465s that the 707s are going to replace are only the 465/2s, which are at Ely Paperworth Sidings. The 465/0s, the /1s and the /9s will be staying on.
