So awesome. This looks absurdly difficult (it is a Kaizo), and Oats is absurdly skilled. I quite enjoyed the rhyming donations. The announcer didn't even get tongue-tied, either. Impressive. The whole run had some great energy. Good stuff.
Hell yeah the legend is back! I wish I could have seen this live. The Super Metroid Impossible run he did a while ago is one of my all time favorite GDQ runs.
The amount of psychological preparation you must go through to finish a run of this caliber in an event... you can't get tired, can't give up and keep motivated. Really amazing!
I loooooove what you guys did with the emote animation on the bottom part of the stream. This year was yet again an absolute blast! Thank you always, GDQ :)
Kaizo Mario is a special sort of hell. Kazio Metroid........ jmfc why does it even exist. I love this game and I haven't seen a single screen I could clear. Oats is on another level for sure.
51:15 this woman is either Katara from Avatar The Last Airbender or Princess Carolyn from Bojack Horseman. Absolutely no hesitation on perfectly pronouncing a surprise tongue twister.
1:54:00 Those mochtroids actually deal a lot of damage in the original game, too. Not a lot of people know this, but the average dps of a mochtroid is actually higher than a metroid! Metroids deal 3 damage every 4/8/16 frames (with power/varia/gravity suit), while mochtroids deal 90/45/22 damage every 80 frames. Thus, mochtroids deal an average of 1.125 dmg per frame without suits, while metroids deal only 0.75, making the mochtroids 50% more powerful. But they die so easily and take so long before their first hit, most people never take damage from them at all. As for the lore, mochtroids are the Space Pirates' first failed attempt to clone the baby metroid. The name is like "mock-troid," as in "fake metroid."
I had no idea there was such thing as Kaizo Metroid but I knew I had to watch as soon as I saw it. There’s something so funny to me to see that it’s practically Celeste level design inside of Metroid
Normally when the donations all get on a single bit it's obnoxious puns that ruin watching the run, but all these rhymes people sent in were really really impressive and char_bunny reading them all out without missing a beat is just perfection.
The ambience and music of this game works like wonder with the super difficult, stressful gameplay on display here. Commentators with the chill voices too. This run is an experience.
Why doesn't the runner have pronouns but the others do? Also I like how it lights up the name of the person who's talking, makes it easier to know who's who.
Oats plays a lot of crummy fanmade remakes of Super Metroid that poorly communicate the way forward or hide secrets in places that can't be guessed. He can end up lost for a long time while everyone gets more and more frustrated. Because the original Super Metroid never hid secrets in a save room, some members of chat seem to think searching the save rooms for secrets is a very clever idea Oats would never think of himself. It's become a joke in Oats's chat.
The developer intended reason for unequipping items, was for the special beam attacks, which required you to only have Charge and one beam type equipped to execute. The other tricks we do are just happy accidents :)
It's all just so great, isn't it? A game from our childhoods (sort of), a very popular and interesting runner, a great couch, a legend on the mic...it doesn't get any better.
I don't have even remotely the amount of patience it would take to run this game. Incredible. This game looks absolutely impossible but he handles it no problem.
ah wait, on another check when he's going through there the "right" way at 1:13:38, it looks like it's saying to get 20 missiles, 4 super missiles, and 2 super bombs. I'm gonna feel stupid if this is something that gets answered by the end of the run...but I'll leave these comments for posterity and mockery, if so
Lmfao right as I was wondering if/when and how much he'll donate, Yeahlight (Idk how it's spelled) straight up Kool-Aid man's through the door with an $11,111 dono 😳 Idk what that guy does for work, but he sure does the hell out of it 😂😂

Kaizo metroid great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that was the most stressful, horrifying run I've ever seen. amazing work
That hell run had me sweating. Everyone dead silent just listening to the lower norfair theme was kinda intense. Great stuff Oats
That lower Norfair hell run that starts at 2:05:15 in the video had me on edge for a good solid few minutes. What a run!
😳
Yeahlight, what a legend
And what about oojujo who donated 10k for sgdq and about a month ago another 10k to GPB I believe
So awesome. This looks absurdly difficult (it is a Kaizo), and Oats is absurdly skilled. I quite enjoyed the rhyming donations. The announcer didn't even get tongue-tied, either. Impressive. The whole run had some great energy. Good stuff.
I love the "oh gosh" she let out at the end xD
Char_bunny is a strong host
Incredible skill. Oats is the GOAT.
Hell yeah the legend is back! I wish I could have seen this live. The Super Metroid Impossible run he did a while ago is one of my all time favorite GDQ runs.
Awesome to see this run! I remember being there when oats finally got the deathless run. Much love to him and the community.
2:05:17 for that flawless lava hell dive. Holy moly that was intense.
Love watching Oats do these nutty Metroid mods
Oats is just too good at metroid. Really impressive prep and run. Awesome job!
Oats and the couch always deliver amazing experiences, my favorite run is still Super Metroid Impossible from 2020.
The "Oh Gosh" at the end says it all. Amazing run.
lol, i caught that too
yeah
That was some flawless execution!
Super Metroid runs are always fun to watch. Timless classic.
Kaizo Mario is a special sort of hell. Kazio Metroid........ jmfc why does it even exist. I love this game and I haven't seen a single screen I could clear. Oats is on another level for sure.
I wasn't the one playing and that acid part after Ridley got me stressed AF D:, awesome gameplay dude
OMG Oats!
My jaw was dropped to the floor for the ENTIRETY of this run
👏🤩🎉🥳🎊
And here I thought the impossible run was the height of madness. Amazing run Oats sheesh
This was truely amazing!
Incredible run ! GG !
There is skill, and then legends like this exist. What an incredible run.
Taunt the Animals% gotta love it!
I DIDNT KNOW THAT YALL WERE IN PERSON AGAIN, IM SO HAPPY
loved the part at 44:10 where he executed that bomb jump trick
That was badass.
There are some parts around 1 hr and 8min into the video where the stream video freezes
Oats is indeed the goat. What a great run. I can't even do SMI, I won't be any match for Kaizo lol
METROID IS THE BEST NINTENDO GAME,ANYONE WHO DOSEN'T AGREE...has a valid opinion, and I won't argue.
Just, wow! Oats is amazing!
Props to Oats for having the mental fortitude to run that. It looked like the most unfun game I've ever seen.
The Hell Room starts at 2:05:14
This run was so exceptional, I felt compelled to donate and this was from 2 years ago lol
51:15 this woman is either Katara from Avatar The Last Airbender or Princess Carolyn from Bojack Horseman. Absolutely no hesitation on perfectly pronouncing a surprise tongue twister.
8:05 tf
no DEER FORCE?
That’s why he’s the goat 😂
I like this donation announcer. You can tell she puts her heart and soul into this.
This difficulty is utterly ridiculous. It doesn’t even look fun to attempt
I felt that “Oh, gosh” at the end. 😂
that was amazing. the skill oats showed was stunning. first time i've ever seen a kaizo super metroid run and he made it look easy
I wanna be the metroid
Terrifying

Bro is a god
This NEEDS to come back soon
57:05 just leaving this here so I can find that poem again. This one is by far the best one imo.
Awesome run! Congrats to Oats and good job to everyone involved, both the commentators and the host were also great!
God I love to see my boy Oats lay it down.
I have probably seen this 4 Times. But i still clench my asscheeks everytime Oats has to make a really difficult walljump och anything! 😂
The platforming is my least favourite part of this game, so this is just horribly painful to look at
This looks… stuuuupid hard
This is some Mario maker shit.... wow
I just realized they light up who is talking so you know who is despite the masks. Totally missed that live.
Wow .
Yowza, what a spicy run! Congrats Oats!
It's runs like this where I'm holding my breath while sitting at my desk watching.
That hell run at 2:05:15 is easily the best thing I've ever seen from a GDQ. Holy shit.
Who is knew the speed running community was so big.
One of the best announcers!!!
The ambience and music of this game works like wonder with the super difficult, stressful gameplay on display here. Commentators with the chill voices too.
This run is an experience.
Char bunny reading some of those donos was incredible
When you save the animals, you kill a run. Thank you for saving another's run!
Why doesn't the runner have pronouns but the others do?
Also I like how it lights up the name of the person who's talking, makes it easier to know who's who.
2:03:33 Oats gets his revenge for all the deaths he suffered to Ridley in his Super Metroid Impossible run at AGDQ 2020.
I'm only eight minutes and super stressed out. Holy shit, this is epic.
18:55 I'm sorry, who donated $1,500 dollars???
Oats stays so chill. What an incredible runner!!
Now I'm wondering what the jape with using X-Ray in the save rooms is all about after someone mentioned it multiple times...
Metroid Prime reference?
Oats plays a lot of crummy fanmade remakes of Super Metroid that poorly communicate the way forward or hide secrets in places that can't be guessed. Donos are fine.
*goat noises* - Three goats in a trench coat

What the fruit man. This is amazing
Wild
oats might be the best speedrunner at any game. dude is a living legend.
Amazing run, and you’re so polite! Just like you always are on stream each week ;3
This is one of the most impressive pieces of videogames i have watched in my life. Mad respects to Oatsngoats the MADLAD!
It's all just so great, isn't it? A game from our childhoods (sort of), a very popular and interesting runner, a great couch, a legend on the mic...it doesn't get any better.
Room 2 is where I would be saying "HOLY F**K NO!", so all the more power to Oatsngoats.
I don't have even remotely the amount of patience it would take to run this game. Incredible. This game looks absolutely impossible but he handles it no problem.
does anybody know what the "collect 2042" message embedded in the wall at 56:22 is about?
ah wait, on another check when he's going through there the "right" way at 1:13:38, it looks like it's saying to get 20 missiles, 4 super missiles, and 2 super bombs. Oats' favorite Pokémon is Exeggcute.
You can be in the acid for less time than my reaction time, great run
Goatly amazing run!
So nice to see Oats at another GDQ
This is way too impressive
What's gonna happen next year, Kaizo Super Metroid Impossible?
Nice save, right at the beginning of the run
This is the run when Samus earned her title as greatest bounty hunter.
Epic hell run at 2:05:13
Oh, god. The Impossible Speedrun.
I was holding my breath with couch from 2:05:23 to 2:08:20 💀
I want to see kaizo Barney the purple dinosaur for Sega Genesis
Go Oatsy Go. YE YE!
Lmfao right as I was wondering if/when and how much he'll donate, Yeahlight (Idk how it's spelled) straight up Kool-Aid man's through the door with an $11,111 dono 😳
Idk what that guy does for work, but he sure does the hell out of it 😂😂
Is that speedrunner from germany ?
Anybody want to explain the joke? "Scan the save room" Crash trap?
