I was initially VERY hesitant about Mordred joining the Smite Universe. I grew up with Arthurian mythology, but Mordred was always a character that I absolutely hated and had zero sympathy for, because of how one-dimensional a villain he was. But after I discussed it with a lot of other Smite streamers (several of whom were big on mythology themselves), I became much more comfortable with his addition. Basically, his very one-dimensional villainy and the lack of sympathy you feel for his character is EXACTLY why he needed to join the Smite Universe. The Arthurian Pantheon needed a Darth Vader-type of character, and Mordred is that character.
