The video is very informative sir.Thank you. How we can place a magic tee in between layers. I tried but its getting placed on top layer only.Thank you.
Hello, if you have an existing PWB design that has a lot of ground vias for stitching layers together, is there a way to automatically reduce the amount of vias used during an EM simulation or does one have to manually delete the vias in the layout that they do not want to simulate in order to speed up simulation. Is there an easy way to simplify the ground vias for an EM and reduce simulation time/resources automatically or does one just have to manually delete extra vias. Thanks for all the video, 10/10 and shared with many!
Very high quality content as always. You're doing videos that nobody else is doing and in great depth. I had a question. Have you considered porting your videos in a course format with certification (on platforms like Udemy where a lot of semiconductor courses are going online at the moment)? I understand your sentiment of opening the industry practices to the world so that everyone may benefit and that is fantastic. At the same time, as a professional seeking entry into RF design, a certification would certainly provide me the edge over youtube tutorials (although the content is the same). I would love to hear your thoughts on this matter. Thank you.
Hi Arun, It's a interesting aspect to look from and I gave it a serious thought for more tech oriented topics like the LNA design tutorial but dropped the idea for the time being as there are other complications and company nod would be needed as some of these course might compete with internal courses. If you are a freelancer or an Univ Prof. then things become lot easier to manage..😂 Also, if I need to provide certification course from Udemy then the preparation required will be quite high and I wan't sure how many people would really like to pay for RF courses to make the effort worth...things are probably easier in coding and VLSI etc but I may be wrong....😊 Let me rethink about that and I appreciate for your constructive feedback...!!
@@BhargavaAnurag Thanks for giving this a serious consideration. I just have a few more inputs that might help you make a decision. Hi Antony, It depends on what kind of PCB design you want to do. If it is for RF Board then ADS would be an excellent choice but if it is for generic PCB then using ADS might be overkill and you could just use any generic PCB tool.
Hi sir thanks for Tutorial .It is great help to reduce time involved after PCB arrives and we start doing all the analysis. However i was simulating a external PCb designed in Xpedition i have created symbol from PCB but how can i assign the original Inductor ,Capacitor in the Layout design and simulate its behaviour.I have followed till vedio 32 and 33 and created a schematics symbol.Just wanted to simulate it.
Thank you sir... : ) you are unveiling lots of stuff in ADS....Is there any default component to insert jumper headers in our PCB in ADS...? What is the procedure to include it ?(INSERTING PIN PCB CONNECTOR )
@@BhargavaAnurag No sir, I'm not asking related to SMA , I'm having DC control lines in my PCB...and I would like to connect those to female jumper wires...What should be done in PCB layout in order to insert those wires...whether a via used for mounting SMT devices should be laid or any other method is available?
Hi Chang Hua, You can map a dielectric via on the desired in the stackup editor and then use the same layer in your layout design to create desired shape of the dielectric slot. Once you do that, the structure can be simulated with FEM simulator in ADS and not with Momentum as it is method of moments solver and condition for MoM is to have a homogenous substrate which gets violated when you define dielectric via in the stackup. Hope this helps.
This video is very informative. Can you explain how to include foot print of SOT-3/QFN/SMD package in a multi-layer PCB design. Also can you explain Via stitching in multi-layer PCB.
Very informative video. Suppose I want to do multilayer design in schematic using multilayer substrate and related lines, open stubs etc. I also need to use via from layer=1 to ground. Which component I should choose to model the via? I would also like to generate layout from the schematic based on the multilayer substrate defined in schematic. line, via etc. Please help in this regard.
I am sorry but you will need to work with your local Keysight support team for this. As long as you have defined the right schematic and via components (it will be multiple of them for a single via) from multilayer library then layout can be created rather easily. Other option is to use VIA designers to create the via with desired perform and then simply use it in your schematic design with rest of the circuit components.
Dear Sir, thanks for the great tutorials! They got me up and running with ADS in a couple of days. I wonder how I can model a planar transformer ferrite core in ADS? I defined a new dielectric material with permeability of 2000 and I used this material to define a dielectric via for core legs, and dielectric conductor for top and bottom plates. Then I draw the windings on the copper layers and it looks correct in the 3D viewer. The simulation stops however, with the following error message: "invalid conductivity". Thanks.
