you shold say.......i miss her sometimes lol,ive got avus and going to buy misano rs6 after new year,if my wife tells me this im single again 100%,happy new year guys
My father and I also bonded over a B5 S4... :'). His was an Imola sedan, which we had to sell as well. Him and I now have a project Nogaro Avant. Excellent Series, absolutely loved this episode!
The first car I fell in love with was my grandpa 1985 Audi 80. That thing was unstoppable in deep snow. After years I finally made it to get myself an Audi too. It’s completely different than my grandpa’s but there’s a connection to it. I love it
Probably the Audi I miss the most of all the ones I have had (Quattro, TT, RS6 and R8). It was superb and when I saw it in Neckarsulm in 2000 during the Quattro 20th Anniversary, I ordered one immediately on release in the UK in Avus Silver with silver (cream) seats and Piano Black trim. It was stunning and you could tell it was an RS4 over any other A4 avant estate.
I love these father & son car stories. My father passed on June 30th and he was the first petrolhead I ever met. And I always loved the B5 RS 4. I'm glad to hear this car is interesting to drive. I looks so good and agressive even by today's standards. Too bad that listings for this car, in Brazil, are around 40k GBP.
To me, this is THE Audi of all time. It has always been my ultimate dreamcar, and that's why I own one. I made a very special video to explain my feelings about the RS4 B5: th-cam.com/video/TD7ubYyY19I/w-d-xo.html
Sorry about your dad mate. It’s such a similar story to me and my dad. We couldn’t afford the s4 but we had the b5 1.8t with btcc style wheels and look.
I owned one of these cars in the past. It was significantly slow on the track due to severe understeer issues. The stock brakes were subpar and required replacement after 6 laps on the Nurburgring. They put proper brakes in after Audid had replaced the stock ones 4 or 5 times on warranty. The engine had to be swapped out within the first 10,000 kilometers. After it ended up in a ditch at a low speed, it needed a complete overhaul because it had literally warped. On another unfortunate occasion, I accidentally hit a cat while driving at night, resulting in a repair cost of 6,000 euros due to damage to the cheap plastic underbody. Despite these setbacks, it could have been an enjoyable daily commuter if it were more fuel-efficient. Unfortunately, it was impossible to achieve a fuel consumption of less than 20 liters per 100 kilometers.
Sadly no RS4 Avants in North America. But we did get ~1500 S4 Avants between 2001.5 and 2002. A bunch of them were unfortunately automatics and many are probably gone. But a fortunate few, such as myself, have had an Imola Yellow 6-Speed since new. It's modified mechnically with RS4 (uprated) parts or better parts (brakes and suspension).
My daily is a 2003 Allroad with the same 2.7 V6 Biturbo with a manual transmission. It's running E85 and churning out a little bit more than 300Bhp. Previous owner deleted the cats and mufflers so it sounds mean as well. Of course this thing is absolutely huge and not sporty at all but it's quick enough to make your daily commute a lot less boring. :)
My father also had a soft spot for these. It was his "If I'd win the lottery..." car. And I totally get that. Quite an understated look and nice performance. Oh and his modern day lottery car would be the Nissan GT-R, just for comparison :-D
doh This was emotional Awesome series about these cars. And this particular video is really special. Thanks for sharing personal stories with us dude. The video reaches another level if i may say so. Feelings and all... :)
Mad respect for telling us about your dad.🙏
"Mad" respect? Are you from New Jersey or something?
LemonOne not the time
Excellent Alex - Beautiful car and so well reviewed - your Dads memory lives on!👍👍
I watch this whole series all over again every now and then. It is no doubt my favorite on TH-cam
My ex made me choose: the B5 is going or she's going.
Well that was easy.
If your girlfriend makes such demands, she doesn't deserve you.
Exactly. If you can't find someone who respects your own interests but they expect you to respect theirs, it's really not worth it.
that's why i call her my ex now =D
Cheers, man!!
you shold say.......i miss her sometimes lol,ive got avus and going to buy misano rs6 after new year,if my wife tells me this im single again 100%,happy new year guys
The B5 S4 is what got me hooked on S4 as my dream car since I was a little kid.

My first car was a B5 avant. Been drooling after the RS for years. Love it.

Great series, Alex! Professional yet personal commentary, looking very forward to pt.3.

I remember when these came out, you can imagine how impressive the performance was then seeing as it's still impressive today.
wanted one then and still do now. But in blue with red callipers ❤️
Nice choice

Had my B5 S4 for 21 years now. 💓
Alex, thank you for your story. It really shows us that cars aren't just machines.

I really enjoyed the personal Insight behind this vehicle, thank you very much!

I'm enjoying this!
Audi shooting break's are my favorite!
What an interesting series, my goal to own an RS4 one day
Fast wagons and saloons are just the coolest

Got a little senti there. #carsconnectingpeople
me too man , i imagine what it felt like to sell that car .
I love car like this, It's a sleeper, yet the engine is so powerful. My old man used to say, this car is wolf in sheep fur
Work of art..!
All of the Audi B5 cars (a4, s4, rs4) are literally timeless looking. You could sell this car today as a 2018 and it would look modern (exterior wise)
YES! B5 Love! Thank you
Great video. Coming from a B5 S4 avant owner! Which the video was longer though!! Great stuff.
Great video!
This video genuinely gave me old top gear vibes
i got a B5 A4 1.8t sedan and currently looking for a B5 A4 Avant....doesn't even have to be a S4....we never got the RS4 here.
Is this engine more reliable than the newer n/a v8??
Miss by B5 S4 a lot!
sorry about your dad alex :(
Bellissima,
B5 s4 is life
No rs4 here, plus the sedan is lighter anyway
Hahaha the interior squeaks and rattles are ridiculous, still a dope car though
It's probably the seat, my b5 did the same but now I fixed it
Not into this multiple parts thing. From now on I'll wait till there all available.
Omfg I love this car
Still want one in Nogaro blue. Prices on the up
Przepiękne Auto
Funny, Chris Harris revieuwd also the exact same car you are driving in.. but his and your opinieonderzoek about the brakes are totally different.
My dad had a pearl white B5 A4 2.8 and he got me an alpine white 2012 B8 S4 V6T
old....but good
Is this a good first car? ive been looking at thr B4 and B5 generation audi's and would those generation cars be easy to drive and easy on my wallet?
shawcobra they are expensive to maintain and not the best in reliability, but great cars
No!
wish my dad was as cool as u
I ❤️👉🏎️
These always blow up their engines. If i remember correctly Matt Farah also absolutely hated how it drives.
Thought this series of vids were gonna be rubbish. Turns out I was wrong.
UNDERSTEER
Pennywise also known as Audisteer
Pennywise only to TH-cam reviewers who drive every car under the sun. No understeer on the street
doh
This was emotional
Awesome series about these cars.
And this particular video is really special.
Thanks for sharing personal stories with us dude.
The video reaches another level if i may say so.
Feelings and all... :)
