Massive amount of respect to LTJ and Conrad representing the UK. Going to play in the US the birthplace of Hip Hop. Conrad showing how the UK MC's and LTJ showing what we do with breakbeats. Not trying to be hip hop on the mic, just expressing the influences in D&B be it the Jamaican sound system with dub effects and toasting 'pon the mic and rap influences sped up breaks and jazz and soul touches. D&B is our hip hop and two of the best to showcase our sound and be ambassadors for rolling breaks and smooth but nasty bass.
I remember around 18 years ago I had the whole 'Progression Sessions 6' live show on a crappy mp3 player with 128 MB memory (I remember I had to compress it to fit it in). At that time I started to run since I was a bit overweight, but I got constantly injured due to poor running form. After reading extensivelly about proper running, among other things, I figured out that I need to keep a cadence of around 180 steps per minute in order to 'fix' my running style. Progression sessions 6 fit the role perfectly, so I started running with my crappy MP3 player to try to keep my cadence matching the bpm of the mix. I can proudly say that LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad made the runner I am today (Ultra marathon runner having finished a dozen 100 milers, and regularly running marathons). Not running with music anymore, but every once in a while I play the 'Progression Sessions 6' live show on spotify (can't find it on youtube unfortunately) and I remind myself of the good old days.
