Mayor requested 2 armed police to guard him, yet not enough police to provide protection to residents and has the gull to say residents need to patrol in an area of known gun violence.
Do you think the police is obligated to protect you? That is a misconception. This is the reason we have a constitutional right to bare arms to protect ourselves and loved ones from any threat be it foreign or domestic.
@@RossellaPerry Wow you believe that slogan, how old are you? lol Gullible. Just google it and you will see the truth.
He wants the good citizens to get their ccw license.
@ichigobankai2343 mayor is against gun ownership and does not want to give permits given to carry a gun. Police are sworn to protect and serve. We are to protect ourselves and never give up your arms to any government. Issue is that criminals have taken the right to carry not registered guns and normal citizens are given a hard time to own legally a gun
Mayor blangardi is not doing his job, he said the community should get more involved, so the mayor wants to put the public in harms way, that is so wrong. Public is not law enforcement mayor blangardi,
We gotta vote these clowns out. Too much corruption here
Hawaii needs a big over haul. Vote all politicans and legislature in the state capital out of office including governor Green and mayor blangardi. Corruption at the highest level
The community should be involved, the mayor isn't asking anyone to risk their lives.
@@johnsotelo3125 And what has Green and Blangiardi done to accuse them of corruption.
They are all in on it corruption, it all starts from the top and not the bottom, guilty by association
I can’t believe the Mayor actually said that. People are concerned about violence. Shooting, stabbings, ect. He was very condescending and disrespectful speaking to the community’s concerns, as if they were complaining about Amazon package getting stolen off their porches.
That’s the most ludicrous thing ive heard but not surprising from this mayor. The residents are asking for help and the mayor says why don’t you get involved.
Why don’t you protest gains t drugs stead of just guns? Maybe you don’t want to give up your drugs?
I’ll get involved. Give me a concealed carry permit
If you don't have a felony you can get one.

Most of the problem sits with the judicial system. How about some real truth in sentencing? How is it that many of these criminals have 20 - 30 arrests on them yet they still walk the streets? Start "consecutive sentencing" and hold these criminals accountable for "every" crime they commit, don't just lump everything together and sentence only on one crime? Prosecutors office..... They're to blame as well. More often than not they will only take a case if they know they have a "guaranteed" win. Won't take the chance to fight for the win.
It’s like ohh judge you think I can concurrent my cases? It is crazy how you do get locked up for one thing then get all your shhhhi exsponged. State need help streets need help.
THis is like all the heavy democrat states in which they let criminals go giving them many chances like how the dude who raped 16 women is out of jail.
@@ichigobankai2343 He has served his sentence.
@@LonnieBrewer-dd4wi Like I said democrat states soft on crime. A serial rapist should be in jail for LIFE without parole but somehow they let him go only after 40 years.

I can't believe the Mayor said its the community's responsibility to stop violent crime in their neighborhood... then the city should provide them with weapons and training if they want them to be police...basically telling them to become vigilantes...that doesnt seem like the way to solve crime anywhere... it seems like it would most likely cause more violence and crime in already high crime area ...the mayor needs to stop watching movies and realize hes in the real world with real families that just want to be safe in their own town.
He wants us to be the victims so he can ban more guns.

He wants you to get your ccw license. He would like more Charles Bronson's to take the neighborhood back.
There's plenty of police presence in here Waianae The problem is they don't do anything about all the crazy vagrants, druggies and the local 'gang mentality'.
I lived on the Waianae coast for years. I don’t know what the police there are like now, but back in the 90s they were lazy and more likely to bully you than help you. And endless construction projects that never get finished? That’s Hawaii! I remember the Waianae library was just getting remodeled … not built, just remodeled. While it was closed the McDonald’s across the street was completely torn down and rebuilt and opened for business and the library STILL needed a couple more months to finish the remodel! I loved going to that library so it really ticked me off!
A “leader” putting blame on the people who he’s supposed to be serving. So he expects the community to shoot back at the criminals? Unreal.
Did he just gaslight a resident into not complaining about there being no police presence, by telling him that residents should be doing the police’s work themselves?!?!
And did they just say the police station hasn’t been opened yet… because there’s no air conditioning on the second floor?!?!

@kawikadee9670 The mayor recently took credit for slowing the issuing of CCW permits to applicants. He is pushing law-abiding citizens to become well regulated militias or outlaws, depending on the government's interpretation of the law.

mayor gonna give citizens the right to arrest criminals? It starts with the parents and kids....
Yes it does start with the family. Intergenerational violence and its difficult to break. Awareness and education could be some answers.
HPD is understaffed.
The new police station is not the answer. More police patrol is. Even with more patrol, it will not solve crime.
How so? Violent crime is EVERYWHERE in Hawaii, are ya blaming every community for this?
I don't understand how fixing a building would solve the rise in crime issues. I think the mayor is spot on about the community being proactively involved to decrease crime. For example, a couple of lady's walking around their neighborhood and simply interacting with suspicious people in area may prevent unwanted/illegal behaviors. It simply shows that the community cares for the area, therefore, deters crime. With the cooperation of the community and police, I think it would make Waianae a better place. Look at the other neighborhoods on Oahu, what's the difference between Waianae and them? Idk, I live in Chinatown, and it appears that the whole community r coexisting with each other. These outlier cases of gun violence seems to be magnified to stir up issues and creating so called solutions to pay to fix issue. Example: fixing the building might increase moral but it doesn't solve the bottom line issue. Thanks for reporting!

Ccw is actually better than open carry.
Hilarious. I remember hearing quite awhile back that the decades long wait for a police station on the west side of Oahu, was a dream come true, almost.
Apparently what they don’t have are enough personnel to actually staff the station. That’s what I heard. Strange But True?
Come on now facilitate that opening of the police station ! Shame on you Oahu !
Remember when the mayor wanted to fight that dude yelling at him? lol
First, notice the types of people attending the meeting and making comments. The station is NOT the answer. The mentality of the residence is. Kids go bad starting in the home. The West Side always talks about Ohana, and Aina, but the actions of the people and the kids are very different. It is more like a private gang mentality which additional police and the police station will not help. It only helps if the people have given up on doing what they are supposed to do in the home.
What a big excuse? If the people gotta stand up an do something people will die. An if so they do away with the police and let the people handle it their way. An don’t cry when the body’s start to pile up! Cause they fail to do their jobs
