I just picked up a 1999 K1200lt for cheap this year. After having it a few months, I now know why it was cheap. I still have a lot of work to put into this bike. Thanks for posting your videos because no one can afford to pay someone else to do the work. Mechanically it is easy to work on. However, I have to take the bike apart to do anything to it. You have a lot on your dash. In the past seven years technology has changed. I drilled a small hole in the BMW emblem above the radio, mounted a camlock cell phone holder, and use a smart helmet for sound that is transmitted from my phone. I use my phone for music and GPS. I like what you have done with the lights. I have used the small screw holes at the bottom of the forks to mount amber driving lights.
Keep up the good work in showing us how to access the deep parts of this bike.
I installed amber LED strip lights in the void area under smoked front furn signal covers. Wired them into the bulb socket so are on as running lights and then alternate with the bulb when using the turn signal.

I did the same ripped out the radio but I put a new modern radio in and connected it to the original bmw controls.
And put a front and rear camera on the bike

I did the Radioectomy and it was great. One the best modifications to do. I installed switchable LEDs as well. And removed the side antenna later. I installed a slightly larger Pelican box in the back, but I was wondering if the police care, since the tag will no longer be illuminated. However I don't drive much at night
no issues with police.
Hi Kirk! Man, your videos are SUPERB!!! I love this Farkles one! anyway, was wondering what Cell phone holder you are using? I also like all the lighting additions you did. Might you have some tips on how to wire that stuff up? where to puchase the LED's (purple), and where to mount them on the bike? Thanks so much! (EDIT), just found the cell phone holder!

As always you got me thinking. I like the little blue lights, I have a feeling they would get me pulled over here as they have cracked down accessories in CA. They have started with pipes, plates, lights and phones. Im waiting to see if GPS will be next. They just pull you over or flag you to the side of the road and start busting out the tickets on your bike. Harley Davidson bikes are getting hit really hard in S.F. right now. They have 16 CHP bikes they are doing stings every day. (chp special forces division).
I like your little rack on the back. There is lots of room under that plastic for othere stuff if your looking for room once the charcoal canister is removed. The First Aid kit is nice.

I added a 12v marine power port on top just ahead of the gas cap cover. I use a dual USB plug in charger. I have my Android phone sitting sideways (landscape view) in such a way that all it covers is the inaccurate speedo. I downloaded a free GPS speedometer app called DigiHUD. When I am rolling, I plug the headphone jack into the cassette adapter that runs thru the BMW stereo, set my music player to 'random', turn on the speedo app, and it all works beautifully together. I still have my thumb control for the volume. If I need directions, I simply turn on the GPS app as well. Everything works from a single phone so I do not need quite so much 'stuff' mounted on my tank. BTW, your 'how-to' videos have been a life saver. Thank you sooooo much for all you do. I'm a new subscriber and have learned a lot from you already. I do have a problem with my '02 K1200LT. My ABS red dash lights flash alternately indicating a 'fault'. I can't seem to find a fix for it for specifically this model. So, any ideas? Thanks in advance......Russell D.
nice idea on the set up. wondering how to wire connect the BMW navigation V GPS, it came with a cradle but can not tell how the connectos hook up on the LT
+LB ZM I ran the wires under the gas tank and only hooked the pos/neg to the battery/fuse box
i want to take the radio out as well but where do get the LED lights and what about the padding on the bottom

Hey sir I'm having trouble with leds staying on while I ride. Where you get all the power from. I wish I could join your club, but I'm in Alabama. I can't get no help cause not to many people have BMW motorcycles down here. You need to setup a hot line for me cause I have a lot of questions.
