    If I may, from Canada: using a level to position your external plug socket only work if the van itself is perfectly level. Instead of running a cord inside the tube, I would have run the appropriate solar panel electric cables and coil the excess of them somewhere in the van.

      Yeah we’re lucky to have a level driveway but also did a visual check to make sure! Yeah good point re cable but I didn’t have any and it’s more likely we won’t do it than will so will see if that was a mistake at some point in the future 😊 glad to have you along from Canada 🇨🇦

    Cutting holes in your van is a way bigger job than we had first realised. You sum it up really nicely, great video and best of luck with your van build! ☺️

    A Soler Panel is a must guy,s so i personaly would prioritise one on the initial build 👍

      We’ve thought long and hard about this and not convinced we’ll really benefit vs cost/space. We’re not living in this full time and we have invested in Lithium Ion batteries. We’ll see if we come to regret that decision!

    Also try and test your antenna before hard fitting as removing a faulty one would be a pain

    Thankyou this is really useful, although i am going to be more nervous cutting the hole.

      Haha first one you do is scary but then you’ll be fine! Good luck 😊

    Hi can you please tell me how you store a part used Sikaflex tube between jobs without it going off and becoming unusable.
    Great vids thanks.

      Glad you like the videos. I just wrapped it up loads with clingfilm and then cut out more of the tip and pulled out the solid sikaflex with a knife. Not ideal but got me a bit more use out of the tube.

    Any concerns sitting on the roof of the van, particularly flexing metal and disturbing sealant around existing fixtures please?

      I haven’t really sat on the roof at all since finishing. The few times I have you can definitely feel it flex but I’m more worried about the ceiling inside creaking and moving than the sealant.

    Hi,
    What did you use to insulate around the 240 hook up, a bit nervous about putting the recycled stuff

    • @OurVanPlan
      @OurVanPlan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We just packed it with the plastic bottle insulation. It’s a sealed unit so no problem at all.

      Thank you for the prompt reply, we are exactly at this stage. I found your video extremely helpful and I like the way you included everything, not skipped showing any thing. Thank you

    Are you painting the van black, otherwise odd choice as all those items are available in white

    • @OurVanPlan
      @OurVanPlan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nope but we’re going for a black and white look. So will get black wheels and a black ladder etc.

      Did exactly the same with my white van. The plastic products are not UV stable, and end up yellow / cream within a short space of time, and look dreadful.

    What router did you use in your van with the roof antenna you've fitted?

    • @OurVanPlan
      @OurVanPlan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We use a Netgear Aircard 810 (I think it’s 810) and it’s really good, performs v well.

      @@OurVanPlan Thanks. Does that support both WiFi boost (e.g boost your home network when you're on your drive) as well as 4g?

    • @OurVanPlan
      @OurVanPlan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it doesn’t (I don’t think) but we have an external wifi repeater and have given that the same SSID as the van wifi so everything automatically connects to that when we get home.

    You can not use a level on a van build
