You are correct about the 8-bit part though. The fact that the pitch is 8-bit but the volume envelope is much higher quality is what makes it sound the way it does.

The midi track is what triggering the envelope that is why there is melody, it was done by someone in midi version it’s not that vocoder knows how to find this in rap. That is not how vocoder works.
