You have a good voice for Alexa - I had to pause your video as Alexa went mental the first time you mentioned her name. I then hit the button to stop her responding. Second time you said Alexa the one in the bedroom (2 rooms away) decided to start playing Katie Melua and I had to pause again and go through and sort it out. It's amazing as I often have to try several times to get a response and I'm in the same room. Really like your videos - thanks!
Good video, the sort of thing Im searching for but Update needed 3 years in electronics is a long time. Am about to convert a Luton and want everything voice controlled without having to access an app on my phone of push a button first..ie bright but dimmable lighting, RGB lighting with music beat sensor, an rgb light in the bathroom, tv control including power on and off, socket for cooker so I can turn on by voice and voice set a timer to turn off incase I forget, usual Alexa speaker/pod whatever for music, timers, reminders etc basically everything I can get to operate on voice. I will have a decent wifi setup.
No real major leaps forward from the perspective of Alexas. We’re on their 4th Gen Echo and 5th Gen echo dot and they work as well as the previous versions. In the van we have various voice-controlled lights and smart plugs / switches, the fire TV stick integrates well to give TV control and WiFi-controlled heating also integrates to the Alexa ecosystem. So lots are possible.
I've just gotten a 4th Gen Echo and I really would like to have this in the van, but I'm not sure what kind of step up device to get (the charger output details say 18V, 1.67A, 30W), or how to wire it in! How are you powering your UE blast?
Hi - You should be able to use a Buck Boost like this one amzn.to/36TKv6x which can be set to give you an 18v output for the new Echo. Luckily the UE blast charges from micro USB.
If it’s the standard Echo 4th Gen then I’m pretty sure it’s 18v (check the power plug to be sure). So it wouldn’t be a simple job. You could run it from a small inverter or use a “buck boost” DC-DC converter to boost the Leisure battery 12v to 18v.
It should say the voltage in the small writing lower down on the plug. If its the same as this one www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204014243265?hash=item2f80324dc1:g:p0EAAOSwEftiucxg it appears to be 12v which means you could use a12v cigarette lighter adapter rated at 1.25a or over. For example this one - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223447798030?hash=item340686d10e:g:yJUAAOSwNd5dxJeU You may need to change the plug on the end of the adapter with one to fit the echo dot.
We have a 4G router in the van so our Alexa connects to that but it could connect to a phone hotspot. The Apollo Voice uses the internet connection from your phone via Bluetooth.
Hi, just popped one in the van to check and got the following: When first connecting 0.2 - 0.3 Amps On standby (eg connected and listening but not doing anything)
@@ExploreVanUK that's absolutely brilliant, thankyou so much for that. Hope you have a great week and Best wishes and stay safe and well to you and your family buddy

I am in U.S. but I see some possibilities here. Thanks.
You’re very welcome, glad it was useful. 👍
Nice video. I have an Echo Dot 3rd or 4th generation, and I am wondering if there is a way to power it using USB.
Echo dot 3rd gen can be powered with one of these.

Does it work off your phone wifi?

Hi, do you know what sort of power consumption does the echo dot 2nd gen draw from the leisure battery system please?
