- On June 22, people witnessed suspected rocket debris plummeting to the ground over a village in China. This came shortly after a Long March 2C rocket was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in the province of Sichuan.

It increases the odds of survival when things are falling. The odds that something hits you directly is miniscule... Being inside a building increases the target size, and the likelihood of injury and or death as it can cause a collapse and fires.

I think this along with the evidence of China , Russian and North Korean technology doesn’t quite work like they wish and like to make out they do.

You can enjoy your schadenfreude and sneer on whatever issues from China. They are taking the sample from the back side of the moon today. And yes great undertakings comes with risks that occasionally actually materialize. Read something on the heroic endeavors from the American space pioneers.

The USSR also did a bad job so they bankrupted their country with massive spending in space and arms races. The U.S. gained massively from space exploration that created a lot of advanced technologies in the process, which in turn created massive wealth. Except the money went mostly to the top 1%, leaving the average Americans footing the bill, and the poor states stay poor. Nevertheless those scientists and astronauts who were actually in the frontline of the space programs were indeed heroic.
