      @Lloyd Gittens does government not apply to this rule of thumb? The elite? royality? These powers won't go away, they will only grow stronger. Is being an individual a crime? Or should everyone be the same, put in a box and shamed for having a different view. Is that how Jesus operated?? I don't think so. Do you think the rich and powerful will suddenly be equal? Or perhaps just more powerful? Can they not be corrupted by power like the "rich business owner?" "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

      @Lloyd Gittens I totally agree with this relationship between Capitalism and Christianity, that in capitalism market values subvert all other forms of value, including religious. However Evangelicals have proven that one can compartmentalize thought, holding contradictory views simultaneously. Ultimately, not many Evangelicals really, really believe in God. Perhaps they believe they should believe, which is good enough to them. But God, to them, is like state. Allegiance is expressed through the worship of empty symbols. The cross and the flag themselves, rather than the values those symbols represent. Christianity in the USA is not a religious belief, but a political affiliation.

      Every person I have met who throws around the term "cultural Marxism" never seems to have any idea about the Frankfurt School, which is the only way in which this term could make any kind of sense. I appreciate that you attempted to address this, even if there was a good amount of simplification (I also appreciate your humility in acknowledging this).
      Marx was a philosophical materialist, so the use of the oxymoron "cultural Marxism" immediately reveals the ignorance of the person using it.

    Dr. Cooper, oddly you have left out one of the most important originators of Cultural Marxism, namely Antonio Gramsci. I propose that Gramsci, whose writings preceded the formation and work of the Frankfurt school, actually drew the road map or created the overarching strategy of what we now know as Cultural Marxism. The scholars of the Frankfurt School rather developed and implemented the tactics-Critical Theory, Repressive Tolerance, etc.-to advance that strategy. Gramsci created this strategy first by redefining Marxism, changing it from an economic class struggle that would eventually spark a world-wide armed revolt (as Marx himself predicted) to a struggle between a class of “oppressors” and the “oppressed.” Secondly Gramsci said that the process of establishing Communist states, rather than armed revolt, would be breaking the “cultural hegemony” of the institutions that supported and nurtured Capitalism-institutions such as the nuclear family, the Christian church, schools and academia and other social organizations that buttressed cultural norms. He saw the way to do this would be to morally delegitimize all these institutions by condemning them as oppressors, and the way to do that was to infiltrate these institutions-especially education-and promulgate a moral condemnation of them in what he termed a “long march through the institutions.” I agree that they borrow concepts of compassion for the weak and oppressed from Christian moral thought-even as they work to condemn Christianity itself. Ironically the heart of Critical Theory tactics is to morally denounce in absolutist terms all institutions and ideas that support free market enterprise though its proponents simultaneously repudiate objective morality. Gramsci originally saw the oppressed classes as racial and religious minorities, ex-convicts, and others outside of the hegemonic cultural mainstream, but work by his Frankfurt School successors and now their students in academia, media and politics, have greatly expanded the ranks of the oppressed by focusing on an ever expanding coalition of identity groups. Their latest invention is intersectionalism by which they assign more victimhood authority to any individual who has membership in more than one group of the “oppressed.” “Oppressor” and the “oppressed”; this is the language of Cultural Marxism-and it was first coined by Antonio Gramsci.

      roganboard84 1) to morally discredit the existing free market economy and, as Gramsci put it, the “cultural hegemony” -made up of the cultural/social institutions such as the nuclear family and the church-that supports it. 2) to get people to accept the underlying ideas of Marxism--equality of result rather than equality of process, profit is theft/evil, private property is unjust, redistribution of wealth, leviathan state is benign, etc.-without the label of Marxism. Most young people have no idea what Marxism is, know nothing of its theory or jargon, but polls show us they have embraced many of its ideas via a shift in the culture, education and messages within popular media/entertainment promulgating these ideas. Gramsci said that the revolution would not come through armed insurrection as Marx predicted, but a slow transformation of the culture, breaking the cultural hegemony Capitalism held, and a “long march through the institutions.”

    I'm a black woman and I support the BLM movement, however, I'm always open to different opinions, probably out of a need to explain to myself how others can question what I myself defend.
    My observation is that people who use the term "cultural marxism" most of the times do so when accusing others of focusing on a certain racial, class or gender group, rather than on the individual (implicitly, the ability of an individual to overcome their prestablished condition, I suppose?), like the same point which is explained in the video. My explanation for why that happens is that individuals are in the first place judged based on the group they belong to, so what follows after is merely a counter reaction of the perceived "unfairness".
    Would it be correct to call me a cultural marxist even if I until recently didn't know about the concept? Or rather, would it be fair to call it a deliberate, systematic attempt or an act of indoctrination whenever I state my opinions?
    I think the real difference between the two fronts is that one believes you can overcome your condition if you just try hard enough, while the other believes that things are not as simple as just trying, and that other factors come into play, possibly considerably determining the outcome of your choices , no matter the positive effort you put in, such as a lack of resources that comes along a certain social and economic background you are born with, psychological remnant trauma that prevails through generations and a big amount of generalizations and prejudices that's maybe bound to happen in society, but which I think this front believes can be counteracted positively if society even begins to acknowledge its existence.

      Listen I see what you're saying but in America we all know this isn't going to work. Why? Well look at our government. The government we have today will only abuse the communism concept and more than likely will be a tit for tat. Example, you want free health care, fair wage, free housing etc? Well trade in your civil liberties for them. We will have to give up our rights (amendments) in the America to get what we want and it isn't fair. We are playing a very dangerous game here and the government will win. If we have our freedom of speech taken away and protest against them, most likely the government will send in active military troops like never before and a lot of people will die because the government doesn't play fair. Don't be fooled by this ideology working in the US, it just won't.

      Cultural Marxism is a scare-term used to paint people trying to overcome structural barriers in order to have a more just and democratic society in conspiratorial terms. It appeals to their motives and accuses them of conspiratorial intent. All the sudden BLM doesn't want black equality, they want lawlessness and disorder. Feminists don't want justice for women they're executing a secret plot to destroy the family.
      The origins of this conspiratorial hoax is a text called the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. It's an anti-Semitic text that alleges conspiratorial Jews are advancing the values of liberal democracy (like racial and religious equality, parliamentary democracy and universal suffrage) as a plot to undermine Western Culture and install a new world order that would be a police state ruled by the Jews.
      Cultural Marxism is nothing but this anti-Semitic conspiracy theory cleaned up and rebooted for the 21st century.

    I believe that people are most comfortable with other people who have similar values, levels of education, interests, etc. College educated professionals will probably not socialize with their house cleaner. But the house cleaner wouldn't want to hang out with the professional person whose house she/he cleans anyway. They wouldn't have anything in common. The idea that whites who have no black friends means they are racist is absurd. Are blacks who don't socialize with whites racist? No, no one says that. Government needs to get its nose out of people's social lives, go do what they were intended to do. Just because someone has worked hard and made money doesn't make that person an oppressor. Just because a person drops out of school and starts using drugs doesn't mean white people or people with money are oppressing that person.

      Yes, Christianity is a Jewish Sect ... some even say that Jesus was Jewish. As I saw some Rabi put it (a nice guy who has some videos on TH-cam) once someone asked Hillel the Elder to summarize the Hebrew faith "standing on one feet with eyes closed" - so a very short summary - and he replied "Don't do to others what you don't want others to do to you".
      So, the main difference, AFAIK, between the two faiths is that Judaism is for Hebrews and Christianity is for everybody. For the Catholic doctrine you actually don't even need to be a believer or a Christian to reach salvation for it's more important to behave like Jesus proposed - and Jesus really said very few things ...

BTW, AFAIK, all three western religions come from the Zoroastrianism. Since all this information is AFAIK, maybe @Dr. Jordan B Cooper could help us.
      I don't know what you mean by "education" ... I studied engineering and like History a lot. I also went to Catholic Sunday School (it was actually never on Sunday) and did my years there from 6 years of age until a year after Chrism. I knew both Priests who were there - both very good men - and both reminded us that Jesus was Jewish.
      I want to tell you about something that happened in Brazil, in the mid 70s: during the military dictatorship, a Jewish journalist called Vladimir Herzog was killed under torture. The Rabi Henry Sobel buried him in holy ground even though the oficial cause of death was suicide; and the Bishop Dom Paulo Evaristo Arns made an ecumenical 7th day celebration in Sé Cathedral in São Paulo with Henry Sobel, the Presbyterian Pastor Nelson Wright and D. Paulo Evaristo. I was raise under this environment of understanding and respect so this is why I don't understand your stern reaction to my statement. These three religious leaders risked their lives in an act that is considered the most important blow to the 1964 Military Dictatorship.

      @@maxheadrom3088 you got that a litte bit wrong. 90% of historians say he was Jewish, and indeed if he wasn't, there is no other option than for him to have been an Egyptian, whose views were completely incompatible with what he espoused. Also, Judaism isn't only for Jews, it's for ANYONE who WANTS to be a Jew, and therefore eternally bound to the covenant that Abraham made with G-d. Christianity and Judaism have a few things in common, mainly that G-d loves people and that we are all responsible for one another (love, respect, kindness to animals, e.t.c) but that is where the similarities end. Judaism shows us that there are 613 commandments that all men (women only need to follow some) need to follow (some aren't applicable today). Of course, this is very hard, and it is almost impossible to be perfect, but nevertheless, we are told to "walk with G-d" (which means follow the commandments he gave us. Christianity doesn't have any commandments that people must abide by (other than the 10), and therefore has no code of conduct to which individuals can be held morally responsible. Also, Judaism has a very different justice system. The one MAIN difference, though, is that Judaism says that G-d is G-d and there is no changing that. It does NOT say that G-d was a person, BCS if He was, then He wasn't G-d at all, merely a person pretending to be G-d. I hope this outlines a few things for you and that you understand that if Christianity was. "Jewish" sect as you say, it would look completely and utterly different.

    Did you realize that your biblical reference came from the pre-Christian part of the Bible - the Jewish part? Or at least what was not edited out of the Jewish part. There are many religions and societies that have, and had, what we would broadly see as a humanist/Christian approach to those in need. Recognizing as well that many were also more barbaric in their approach to the needy. The Reformation saw a suspension of the more charitable aspects of Christianity and how many people today, in nominally Christian countries, suffer needless, painful, undignified deaths because they can not afford healthcare.

    Marxism takes incredibly complex issues and simplifies them to a ridiculous degree. The human condition is terribly difficult, we get old and die, its a tragedy and we all suffer if we live long enough and it does not matter where you happen to be in society or where you were born, you come in alone , live alone (in many ways) soul and spirit and by god you die alone. One group taking over the other group will not change anything. Its all be tried before.

    The core of the issue is: Christianity cares about the oppressed because of their personhood, the inherent value of their lives as children of God. Marxism claims to care about the oppressed because of their contingent social/material circumstances. In other words, oppression must end not out of charity and love for the oppressed but to tweak the engines of historical necessity and reach a pragmatically desirable situation that will generate conformity and end class struggle.

      Who's to say that ending class struggle is even realistically possible, or that it wouldn't just open up a greater pandora's box? Trying to end it already created some of the greatest catastrophes of human history via the 20th century. There is class struggle because there is consistent interaction between a melting pot of different people that have fundamentally different abilities. I don't think one could create a situation where people have biologically the same abilities, or even a society that demands absolutely equal abilities or social roles, and so communism or Marxism (where everyone is equally on their knees before a few select tyrants) is absurd on that basis alone but by no means only on that basis.

When really Marxism is simply a critique of capitalism which foretold the conflicts between labor and capital, when the means of production in a society are vested in private interests.
    Whites aren’t the borgeois, we are all proles. The capitalists are the inconceivably wealthy elites who own our government and are exploiting the resources of the planet, as well as the old money heirs who live off the capital gains of their inheritance and have never worked a day in their life who push the economy further and further each day into the junk economics of financialization.
    The postmodernist mainstream left is nothing more than a tool being used to distract everyone from their true enemy. Making religious whites feel defensive and disenfranchised minorities feel angry baiting them with retributive fantasies of “social justice”.

These people do need help getting access to equal opportunity. I don’t think people are being marginalized just because of their race or gender (and definitely not because of religion in the USA). Poverty doesn’t care what color or gender you are. I believe that investing in communities where poverty is rampant - be it big cities or small towns - will do more help in the long term. It seems that whatever we’re doing now isn’t working too well. Again, I totally agree that we always need to work on helping those in need. But if we’re going to succeed in this mission we need remember that we’re all on the same side and have to same goals regardless of immutable characteristics like race, gender, sexual preference etc. We can’t work together if we’re divided from the start✌️

      I think the only ones who don't understand are those who have been brainwashed by Cultural Marxism (and Postmodernism) have surrendered their critical thinking completely, becoming what i call P-borgs. "P" for Postmodernist and "borgs" referring to the fictional characters of the series Start Trek, defined as: “the fictional civilization of Borgs is based on a hive or group mind known as the Collective. Each Borg is linked to the collective by a network that ensures each member is given constant supervision and guidance. The collective consciousness ensures that they share the same thoughts”. Does it sound familiar? As perhaps... you?

    This video makes some interesting interestiong points, but does not back up many of the claims.
    At 9:00 the video talks how there are many, many ways someone can be opressed or privileged and we never know, on an individual level, how priveliged or not somebody is. This is true! But this does not mean privilege on a group level does not exist. In my country, for example, when two people with the same CV apply for a job, somebody with a Dutch name has a much higher chance of being invited for an interview than someone with a Moroccan name. Showing that privilege definitely exists on a societal level.
    As the third problem, the video talks about how the opressed use the exact same mechanisms to become the opressors. This is cannot be stated as fact without any explanation. it can also be used to gain equality.
    Finally, I disagree with the point that the state cannot force individuals to change for the benefit of society as a whole. Using that argument, the state should not have banned slavery. Afterall, why would the state force the slaveowners to change?

    • @guadafok3585
      @guadafok3585 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Different privileges are given in different contexts by different people. For example, you might be given black privilege if you're black and want to become a rapper or skinny privilege if you're treated better for being skinny. There is no way to "tax" all privileges and make things "equal" without oppressing somebody along the way

    I am a master's student in political science in western europe. All my class are heavily alt-left loaded. The texts we have to read to prepare each class are completely biased. It took me several minutes of my first class this year to understand that I was going to be dealing with professors and fellow students who believe in the "leftists are sweet/rightists are evil" dichotomy. This is something I never realized when I was a bachelor's student many years ago. In the hindsight, a lot of my classes were openly marxist. Some professors were even communists and made us study Marx. I remember that the first time I had to study a book of Marx, I would complain because I had heard about him all my life already (talk about endoctrination from the earliest age...). After the third book or so, I was hooked and morphed into the perfect woke girl and in my mind, whoever thought differently was evil. That's what this ideology makes you believe. I am older now and I have opened my eyes but all the people I know are severely brainwashed. What a cult!!

      Finally! We need more people like us to wake up. Also took political science and realized just how much Marxism is fundamentally intertwined with Communism and how that primarily fuels multiple leftist movements throughout the 21st century. Many of my cohorts are too deep within' the University's alt-left status quo that they are unable to question it entirely. As Yuri Bezmenov once stated that his superiors told him not to waste time with idealistic "leftists", as they would become disillusioned, bitter, and adversarial when they realized the true nature of Soviet communism.

      If you took away that you should hate everyone "not woke" from the litteratur of Marx and Engels, sorry to say but then you don't understand material dialectics, nor the ideology that came to life armed with the Marxist methodology. Back to the school bench perhaps, or just dig out the old books now that you're admittedly more mature.

    10:08 "But in reality we know that the world is not necessarily getting better"
    That's quite the assertion, claiming "we know". I'm not saying that the world is rosy, but at what point was is better, and which parameters are we looking at in trying to make this general assessment?

    • @HaecceitasQuidditas
      @HaecceitasQuidditas 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      IMO, with the word "necessarily", it's not even a very controversial claim. All it requires is that it's not inevitable that the world always gets better.

      @@HaecceitasQuidditas Yeah, it's almost a non statement. Although, If I'm gonna be fussy I would say that we still can't claim knowledge. Perhaps the world by necessity gets better (whatever that means) as an inevitable consequence of its governing laws. How would we know?

    The term "cultural Marxism" is not heavily used in contemporary debate. It's a straw man thrown in by people who don't know what they're talking about and ignored by people who do. No flashy video on youtube can change that basic fact.

    This video is pretty good. it helped me understand a lot. I still don't understand, but in a way I do. That's how ridiculous the entire thing is. We're not equal. We can't be because we're not robots. And we definitely are not the same because of our skin color. More times than not we may find more in common with the one who doesn't look like us or culture like us. Life and human beings are too complex to push for anything in its totality - so Marxism must go. I think I expressed this right. Thanks for breaking that down!

    "Various communist countries coming into power" at around 2:20 basically discredited the explanation. Sorry, but a country isn't communist simply because its party wants to create the conditions required for EVENTUAL communism. The countries that Cooper would point to were all poor, mostly agrarian countries that employed something called "state capitalism," which was to take the place of private capitalism, so that the countries could rapidly build up productivity and join the modern (of their time) world. Their "not all that positive" results make a laughingstock of private capitalism as an economic force. Both Russia and China built up in 50 years what took the United States 150. Living conditions in Russia improved far more rapidly than ever happened in any capitalist country. A good portion of that is because the models and technology were already developed, but both countries were still obscenely poor and agrarian, making rapid industrialization THAT MUCH HARDER.
    Yes, it was a very inadequate description of Karl Marx. Also not overly accurate.
    You jump from critical theory to postmodernism and then say "That, essentially is, what we know as cultural Marxism." That was a mental leap. You introduced the "idea of cultural Marxism" without ever explaining what it was around half-way through the video. I'm still trying to figure out what you're saying cultural Marxism actually is. Unless you're saying that "cultural Marxism is recognizing that there are oppressors and oppressed groups," in which case why call it "cultural Marxism" except to bend knee to people like Jordan Peterson?
    All-in-all, I don't see this as an explanation of cultural Marxism so much as personal biases injected into something that could easily have been compressed into two minutes of "Here's an inadequate/inaccurate description of Marx and Marxism, a vague description of cultural Marxism that boils down to 'oppressor and oppressed classes exist within society,' and I don't like it."

    What Cooper refers to as 'Cultural Marxism' is more accurately depicted as post-modern thought. Marxism and the Frankfurt School are inherently critical of post-modern thought.

    I am both a Marxist and a fascist; I believe everyone of my race that are either secular or of my religion should live in equal conditions, with the government helping those in need through public housing, healthcare, education, and environmental funding, while also being allowed the freedom to make their own art. Capitalism should be totally abolished so that there isn’t an incentive to prioritize profit over genuine human decency and insuring the well-being of others. But for the other races and religions, they should all be sent to (government-owned, regulated, non-privatized) concentration camps and forced to provide resources to insure that people of my race and either secular or of my religion can live in higher quality conditions while still remaining in a fair, socialist society.

    Morality existed outside of Christianity and before Christianity, much of christianity is simultaneously built off of Judaism and alternative belief structures at the time. The basis of your thesis is refutable, but the analysis in the beginning on cultural Marxism historically,though short and simplistic, was objective and fair.

    • @MeeshMotorsports
      @MeeshMotorsports 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pecu Alex I would also disagree with this as well. Class consciousness and community orientation, though nice to liken towards the things Christianity did contribute ideologically, was a long held belief by many non violent cultures of the time and beforehand.
