Tough luck on the block Nick. I was running a JD 9620rx quad track a few weeks ago and had an engine failure at 1450 hours. Not sure exactly what happened yet but a new engine which happens to be a Cummins in this tractor costs $115,000. Thank God for warranty.
Lovely October surprise eh, keep you & Twon out of trouble. Getting to know your Deere now, inside & out, it'll look good with the new front tires Nick.
I have a 4030 that leaks water not from the pump and the oil is clean not cloudy. Previous owner had head off from what l can tell. These 30 series are 47 years old now. Mine is a 73 model first year. I like the 4430's just a little too big for my operations.
I just looked at a 4020 book to make sure I remembered right. OTC and Snap-On made a special offset socket for those head bolts so that the injectors didn't have to be pulled to torque the head. I don't think they make them any longer but I'm sure one could be picked up used or made from a box end wrench, a socket, some steel, and a welder. They kind of looked a bit like a c-clamp frame.
The 7700 John Deere combines used the same engine just with out a intercooler. I have repowered a few of them tractors with a 7720 or 8820 combine engines it's a very easy swap. I have that tool to pull them injectors I got it from the John Deere dealer here in Minnesota I could get you the John Deere tool part number.
