@@c.518 In Europe it's mostly the British who eat that monstrosity, because they just love to ruin food among other things. It's not really that popular elsewhere in Europe. For example people in Eastern Europe like to add corn on pizza.
There are two reasons why Italians hate pineapple on pizza:
1) Pizza is a cultural symbol, it was created to represent the Italian flag: basil (green), mozzarella (white), sauce (red). So putting strange things on it is a bit like disrespecting this symbol.
2) The other reason is that making disgusting combinations is equivalent to ruining the food, therefore wasting it, and wasting food is a grave sin.

Gino sorbillo is one of the best neapolitan pizza makers in naples and he has a pizza with pineapple in his restaurant based in naples. I tasted it, and it's GODLY, one of the best pizzas i've ever had. It has mozzarella, fumed provola, cacioricotta and the pineapple firstly cooked in the pan and after in the wood oven. Go and taste it.
