He can easily destroy diaochan before she even has time to farm. Besides, Dianwei's flexibility is much lower than Lan, he might counter Lan at late games but Lan can escape easily with his skills (1st skill and ult). If you pick Dianwei, you will be difficult to gank and dive as he only has his ult to get close to the enemy.
It is OP in ranked when we need to ban the characters most annoying they ban him cuz he's too OP but after nerfs the ban rate is lower, before Nerf he could easily 1v5 with infinite skill 2 and heal himself continuously

He needs lots of nerds he has way to much damage which makes it very unfair cuz he can easily finish of a jog bc of the high damage so it makes it hard for other assassins that are not fast at jog to easily lose their jog monsters bc he can easily steal them
He's pretty easy to counter tbh. Use hard cc heroes like daji or wang zhao jun to lock him down, or pick counter heroes like dian wei which can kill him in 1v1
