1982 is yet another banger of a year, and is the year where Steven Spielberg's cinematic masterpiece E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was released (although the Atari 2600 game was "shit"). It's also one of the best years for logos and television idents. There is a LOT of logos, but here are the best ones: - the Geffen logo at 3:29, with simplistic but neat logo design and animation. - most MTV idents, such as 5:05, with an awesome remake of the MTV "One Small Step" theme made up with factory machines, as well as the creatively done ident at 11:59 where the MTV logo is shaped as a sandwich. - the opening ident for Japanese TV station KKT (9:09) - the United Artists logo at 13:10, with a simplistic but neat usage of live-action modeling, and a tune that makes a turn from sad to happy. - the Thorn-EMI Video logo at 15:29, with colourful and fantastically done effects and animation, and music that is nice to listen to. - the MPL Communications logo at 17:16, with brilliantly done traditional animation, and the music is very well composed, although sounding a bit creepy... - the MGM/UA Home Video logo at 17:47. - arguably the _BEST_ out of all the logos from this compilation is the HBO Feature Presentation intro at 23:19. The music is very well composed and the modeling and special effects in this opening are very excellently done. The city modeling is _BY FAR_ the greatest city modeling ever built. It also helps with the fact that there's no CGI/computer animation used. Not to mention it's very long, lasting over a minute long, but it uses the length perfectly and it's one of the best choices if you're looking for a lengthy logo that doesn't bore you to death. It also feels like you're going on an adventure before the movie starts. - the ABC Motion Pictures logo at 28:55, which is another logo that, rather than relying on CGI, has a fantastic usage of live-action modeling and special effects. - the Inravisión ident from Colombia at 33:29, due to its well-done animation, despite being similar to the Rede Globo's idents in terms of visual presentation and logo design. - the MSP logo at 35:00, which is memorable among Brazilian audiences. - the Vestron Video logo at 38:19, one of the most memorable logos among the logo community. - ident for Asia Television from Hong Kong (41:29) - the Global Television Network ident at 47:13. - the Grampian Television ident at 47:27. - the Master Arts Video logo at 52:50, with amazingly-done modeling and special effects (with the logo being a computer graphic), although it may also be creepy to some people due to the music and the dark visuals. - finally, the RCA Selectavision Videodiscs intro at 1:03:03, with a fantastically done CGI animation and a well-composed fanfare.
