Got soft banned because of a hacker eggheading me and adding 10k souls everytime he hit me. Ended up deleting the char that took me a hour to make him(He ended up looking like some weird demonic crab human hybrid) due to the invalid data warning but still got soft banned anyway. Stopped playing after that. That was about 6 months ago, logged back on today out of curiosity and low an behold, still soft banned. Great game 10/10 would get perma backstabbed and banned again. The game itself amazing but this remaster and From can suck A big one.

@Stale Bagelz I got into an argument with a player during the first few weeks of the release who was trying to tell me ds1 PvP was the most balanced with the highest skill requirement of all the soulsborne games...apparently according to him chain backstabs and toggle escapes aren't glitches they are clever use of game mechanics lol, he even tried comparing the game to super smash Bros at one point...
The PC version was dead on arrival because everyone knew you would buy the same thing we already had for years using DSfix. This remaster only makes sense for console players really.
Magnus Peacock I’m late but yep that’s how it is, pc already had uncapped frame rate and shit with tons of mods already made not a whole lot was new from the remaster and it was obvious they didn’t really try a whole lot, pc players paying $20 for a bonfire isn’t worth it
The Remaster was superior in all but one way. The original one had a better anti cheat because people had a program that kicked people who had unrealistic stats but everything else? Remaster improved on compared to the DSFix. FPS was stable throughout the entire game at 60. The DSFix was dropping to 30 plenty of times throughout the game. Connecting to people was easy when there where a lot of people around. Also they improved so you could easily connect to friends. Graphics got a slight upgrade. I still enjoyed Dark Souls Remaster because it was playing at 60FPS at all times.
if you are going to compare the remaster to the original dark souls with mods.... the remaster fails stupid hard. The only thing they did "better" was made foliage sway, but on a timer, and only 6 patches of it. And the remaster could not even mainatian a steady frame rate for christ sake!
Wraith Gear The only thing the remaster got wrong was its first patch that introduced a fps stutter. It wasn't fixed for nearly 3 weeks and that + hacker scares made people ditch it.
It was more than just foliage sway that got updated. Some plenty of armors got improved details. Also the game ran at 60 FPS at all times for me without any problem. The DSFix for the old one could not for the life of it.
um there is a,or was an FPS stutter, i don't know i stopped playing about 3 days in. and the armor may have looked better then the original dark souls, but then again you are comparing it to modded dark souls, and man the remaster failed HARD. With DSFix i NEVER had any dips below 60 fps. The remaster couldn't maintain 60 fps if i left the controller alone in firelink!
The truth is that PVP was always bad in DS1 and DS2 (DS2 one should stay down forever), so why should they exist? Covenant items? Nah both of those games have really tame drop rates for convent items (unlike DS3).

I was a huge fan of the original, and I personally hate the new music arrangements and enemy/character redesigns because they completely miss the tone of the original. If you don't care about that stuff and only focus on the fidelity of the new compositions and graphics then I understand why you'd be fine with bluepoint's direction.

Final boss of Dark Souls is trying to kill someone in pvp using only sorceries and no dlc spells. Second to-last final boss is a ninjaflipper with 18 Dark Beads and some homing spells like _Pursuers._ 'Cause you know you are living in the lag.

I played Dark Souls on PC without DSFix and I have no idea wtf people complain so much about Blighttown. Yeah there were some fps drops but for me at least it was never that bad. Blighttown is just a meme at this point, not a real issue.
This was my first experience with Dark Souls and honestly I loved it, beat the game twice for each ending and really had nothing to complain about except for the Bed of Chaos boss fight that just felt cheap and more filler content even tho I know you need it for the king's vessel.
DS1: Best pve, worst PvP. DS2: Best PvP, ok pve. DS3: better pve than DS2, but not as good as DS1. Better PvP than DS1 but not as good as DS2. Bloodborne: great pve (close to DS1). PvP is on DS3 level.

Twinks and other dark bead cowards killed the game. How can you get new players getting invested in the game and keeping it alive when cowards infest early levels with builds specificly designed to prey on them. When veterans all leave and the rest spend their free time destroying new players cause thats the only way they can get a kill, the game dies.
I remember the PS4 launch of DSR. Much jolly cooperation to be had. It quickly died out after... a week? Two weeks? All the fresh meat got scared away...
When I played DS1:R (after playing the regular one for 1 year and a half), I did a 28-40 quality ring switch build (Leo, Wolf, Hornet, DWGR, Red tearstone) with 40 base poise, because I knew all too well what I would have found upon reaching the PvP zones. On my first day at Oolacile/Kiln I literally invaded for seven hours straight, meeting only havelmoms, dark bead w/TWOP mages, poise monsters with buffed falchions, and a lot of disconnecting first timers. And many, many four man gank squads, because progressing through an already easy game with three players wasn't enough, I guess. I literally played one day of PvP, then came back to Dks3, and never touched DS1:R again. And then, as I predicted, the game died like it deserves.
Grammernatzi Not even close my dude. Whole reason for the remaster is to actually be able to play the game without a fucking mod that still tanks your frames in boss battles because it’s so terribly optimized. Game is actually now enjoyable for people only wanting pve with some co op
The same thing happened when the remastered halo wars. It makes everyone who’s playing it still (that base 3,000 before the release of DS1R) excited for the “improved” version of the game just to get their hopes crushed. It ends up splitting the fan base between people who go back to the original and those who stay on the remaster with both sides dying out quickly
I like the Game and spent over 200 hours playing it. I found some bugs and fails, but I don't really care. no one of them destroyed my game experience. I don't regret that I bought it
He can't defend something we know nothing about yet (and he isn't). He's just hopefully optimistic that it may be better than the remaster we already got since another company is handling it afaik. And at least it has some merit by bringing the game to a new platform (and potentially handheld no less)

Of course, when I see a smaller player count I just think "Oh thank god, I can just enjoy the actual game without the shitty PvP." Honestly, there was so much effort put into the world building, the writing, the environments, the lore. That's what makes the series special. I paid for the convenience of having it on console at 60 FPS and it being the same amazing game I remember. And it is. The fewer people treating it like it's a CoD deathmatch, the better.

I picked up DS1 prepare to die 3 years ago for $5 on a steam sale. It wasn't too hard to find the DSFix mod to fix the game's bugs, the unlocked 60 fps looked amazing, and there was even a mod to make matchmaking a lot easier and faster. It's still my favorite game, and it's sad to see the "remastered" version tarnish what was already a masterpiece.
.. I was just playing earlier and it's perfectly alive for me. Plenty of invasions, plenty of coop, plenty of people running around in my area. Sat by a bonfire for 5 minutes ended up with 6 additional estus flasks ontop of base 5.
I started using ALT+F4 not because the PvP is bad, but it was completely fucking destroyed by hackers. I dealt with the occasional hacker in Prepare to Die, which I have 450 hours in, but in the first 8 hours of playing Remastered (over the course of a few days), I ran into 6 egghead hackers... 6! That's 6 times I had to go farm a stupid vermifuge from the lizards in the forest before continuing and either finally getting to the vendor below Blight Town or outleveling the hackers range. I bought the game simply because I wanted an easier way to co op with friends who never had the chance to play it. I simply wanted DS1 with the password system of DS3, and it was ruined because of assholes who wanted fuck up the experience for everyone in an attempt to stick it to From Software for releasing a supposed "cash grab"...
Actually, the Nintendo switch port is very very active. It's a concentrated community full of people who haven't been able to play before. It makes me really happy!

I honestly never had a problem with the console Dark Souls Remastered because it brought the game to places it had never been. I was railing against this from the get-go as a PC player because... well, duh. Not only did we basically already have it with DSfix, but Steam FUCKING REMOVED PREPARE TO DIE EDITION FROM THE STORE. DS Remastered on PC is stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

2:44 you see, inferno is a clairvoyant genius who was cleverly using foreshadowing here for his eventual Dark Souls Remastest. He was simply gaining knowledge and experience with cursed halo and his own game so he could tackle this task competently eventually.
To be fair, it's entirely possible that the player base of the original has now diluted across the two console releases based on the fact that friends might have a console and not a PC. The remastered now is on three platforms, while the original only worked on PC and (barely) on 2 10+ year old consoles. We can't see the numbers for PS4 and Xbox One, but I have a feeling that was a net gain to the total player base.
Yeah but that won’t account for the 95% of people dropping the game less then 1% absolutely would do this but it’s not nearly enough to be the main cause, even if we went off ds1 with dsfix numbers being at 3,000 and then having the game drop to less the 1,000 then this still won’t justify it, it’s less then ds1 without any mods for 40 dollars

You have no concept of the idea of fun, you just think difficulty and frustration is all that makes a game good, and you live in a fantasy world where people have nothing to do but play the same video game all day. This "multiplayer is the only way to play" culture is crazy. Just because a bunch of players aren't on simultaneously to play multiplayer doesn't mean a game is dead. Is Super Mario World dead because most people play that single player? No. People get tired, do something else, and come back to play a game later. Hell, just this year I've come back to play tons of SNES and N64 games for enjoyment's sake. People still make mods for that game as well. I'd hardly call it dead. He never said that. However due to the seamless way the Souls series handles Multiplayer, integrating it into the single player experience, the multiplayer is a fundamental aspect of the game. Imagine if you were playing a game where weapon customization is a huge part of the experience. The thing that keeps the community alive and gets people to come back to the game, is the fact that they can build their own weapons from scratch, and that building a good one is a rewarding experience. Then the game gets remastered, and advertises itself as being a definitive version of the game, with a ton of quality of life changes. People flock to it, and realize that while several aspects of the game were improved (There are now additional save points in hard to reach areas and you can fast travel) the weapon customization was gutted. The customization is still there, and you can still make interesting weapons, but you no longer have freedom of creation, and have to pick from templates that autobuild themselves as soon as you have the parts. While the game as a whole might be an improved and more streamlined experience, the reason people play the game was removed. So the community dies. The fact DS Remastered's multiplayer is so broken is why the community around the game died. If you notice, an overwhelming majority of all discussion on Souls games (that isn't about Lore) is about the multiplayer experience.
This is semantics. Obviously he's referring to multiplayer, which he demonstrated was *healthy* before the remaster, and now isn't. Yes, the single-player game works. We're all aware of this. That is missing the point of the video.

They did less work than fans did fixing its issues. This should surprise no one.
The Remaster was superior in all but one way.
The original one had a better anti cheat because people had a program that kicked people who had unrealistic stats but everything else? Remaster improved on compared to the DSFix.
FPS was stable throughout the entire game at 60. The DSFix was dropping to 30 plenty of times throughout the game.
Connecting to people was easy when there where a lot of people around. Also they improved so you could easily connect to friends.
Graphics got a slight upgrade.
I still enjoyed Dark Souls Remaster because it was playing at 60FPS at all times.
if you are going to compare the remaster to the original dark souls with mods.... the remaster fails stupid hard. The only thing they did "better" was made foliage sway, but on a timer, and only 6 patches of it. And the remaster could not even mainatian a steady frame rate for christ sake!
Wraith Gear The only thing the remaster got wrong was its first patch that introduced a fps stutter. It wasn't fixed for nearly 3 weeks and that + hacker scares made people ditch it.
It was more than just foliage sway that got updated. Some plenty of armors got improved details.
Also the game ran at 60 FPS at all times for me without any problem. The DSFix for the old one could not for the life of it.
um there is a,or was an FPS stutter, i don't know i stopped playing about 3 days in. and the armor may have looked better then the original dark souls, but then again you are comparing it to modded dark souls, and man the remaster failed HARD.
With DSFix i NEVER had any dips below 60 fps. The remaster couldn't maintain 60 fps if i left the controller alone in firelink!
All they had to do was keep the damn original version on Steam like they did with Dark Souls 2.

I played Dark Souls on PC without DSFix and I have no idea wtf people complain so much about Blighttown. Yeah there were some fps drops but for me at least it was never that bad. Blighttown is just a meme at this point, not a real issue.
This was my first experience with Dark Souls and honestly I loved it, beat the game twice for each ending and really had nothing to complain about except for the Bed of Chaos boss fight that just felt cheap and more filler content even tho I know you need it for the king's vessel.
They could have literally just added cloth physics, 60 fps and Dark Souls 3's backstabs and it would have been enough.

When I played DS1:R (after playing the regular one for 1 year and a half), I did a 28-40 quality ring switch build (Leo, Wolf, Hornet, DWGR, Red tearstone) with 40 base poise, because I knew all too well what I would have found upon reaching the PvP zones.
On my first day at Oolacile/Kiln I literally invaded for seven hours straight, meeting only havelmoms, dark bead w/TWOP mages, poise monsters with buffed falchions, and a lot of disconnecting first timers. And many, many four man gank squads, because progressing through an already easy game with three players wasn't enough, I guess.
I literally played one day of PvP, then came back to Dks3, and never touched DS1:R again.
And then, as I predicted, the game died like it deserves.
DSR was so bad it caused players to go to ds3 and ds2 again

The same thing happened when the remastered halo wars. It makes everyone who’s playing it still (that base 3,000 before the release of DS1R) excited for the “improved” version of the game just to get their hopes crushed. It ends up splitting the fan base between people who go back to the original and those who stay on the remaster with both sides dying out quickly
It angers me that it also killed some of the playerbase for 2 as well. At least 3 is alive and well...

Honestly, there was so much effort put into the world building, the writing, the environments, the lore. That's what makes the series special. I paid for the convenience of having it on console at 60 FPS and it being the same amazing game I remember. And it is. The fewer people treating it like it's a CoD deathmatch, the better.
You can just turn PvP off anyways so I don't see why having many players on would change anything.

I picked up DS1 prepare to die 3 years ago for $5 on a steam sale. It wasn't too hard to find the DSFix mod to fix the game's bugs, the unlocked 60 fps looked amazing, and there was even a mod to make matchmaking a lot easier and faster. It's still my favorite game, and it's sad to see the "remastered" version tarnish what was already a masterpiece.

.. I was just playing earlier and it's perfectly alive for me. Plenty of invasions, plenty of coop, plenty of people running around in my area. Sat by a bonfire for 5 minutes ended up with 6 additional estus flasks ontop of base 5.
Same, it's never even taken me 10 minutes to invade either.
I started using ALT+F4 not because the PvP is bad, but it was completely fucking destroyed by hackers. I dealt with the occasional hacker in Prepare to Die, which I have 450 hours in, but in the first 8 hours of playing Remastered (over the course of a few days), I ran into 6 egghead hackers... 6! That's 6 times I had to go farm a stupid vermifuge from the lizards in the forest before continuing and either finally getting to the vendor below Blight Town or outleveling the hackers range. I bought the game simply because I wanted an easier way to co op with friends who never had the chance to play it. I simply wanted DS1 with the password system of DS3, and it was ruined because of assholes who wanted fuck up the experience for everyone in an attempt to stick it to From Software for releasing a supposed "cash grab"...
Actually, the Nintendo switch port is very very active. It's a concentrated community full of people who haven't been able to play before. It makes me really happy!

I was railing against this from the get-go as a PC player because... well, duh. Not only did we basically already have it with DSfix, but Steam FUCKING REMOVED PREPARE TO DIE EDITION FROM THE STORE. 2:44 you see, inferno is a clairvoyant genius who was cleverly using foreshadowing here for his eventual Dark Souls Remastest. He was simply gaining knowledge and experience with cursed halo and his own game so he could tackle this task competently eventually.
To be fair, it's entirely possible that the player base of the original has now diluted across the two console releases based on the fact that friends might have a console and not a PC. The remastered now is on three platforms, while the original only worked on PC and (barely) on 2 10+ year old consoles. We can't see the numbers for PS4 and Xbox One, but I have a feeling that was a net gain to the total player base.

Yeah but that won’t account for the 95% of people dropping the game less then 1% absolutely would do this but it’s not nearly enough to be the main cause, even if we went off ds1 with dsfix numbers being at 3,000 and then having the game drop to less the 1,000 then this still won’t justify it, it’s less then ds1 without any mods for 40 dollars

Sad thing is that it’s not really dead. They could have just patched prepare to die with the things in remastered. It still has around 2000 players on pc

I've read this a couple of times, and with how childishly it's written I'm not sure if it's trolling or not. If you're actually being serious, then you're both a moron and a perfect example of just how cancerous the Dark Souls community, DS1 fanboys in particular, is/are. You have no concept of the idea of fun, you just think difficulty and frustration is all that makes a game good, and you live in a fantasy world where people have nothing to do but play the same video game all day. Of course I don't like DS1 pvp, it's full of ridiculous exploits, obnoxious playstyles, and a community of absolute goblins that care about nothing but winning. There's no fun to be had unless you're the one bullying less experienced players, and I have no desire to "learn" it because you only play it one way against one type of player. Dark Souls has never been perfect and the busted PvP is a great argument for that. There's a reason I play this game solely offline.

This "multiplayer is the only way to play" culture is crazy. Just because a bunch of players aren't on simultaneously to play multiplayer doesn't mean a game is dead. Is Super Mario World dead because most people play that single player? No. People get tired, do something else, and come back to play a game later. Hell, just this year I've come back to play tons of SNES and N64 games for enjoyment's sake. People still make mods for that game as well. I'd hardly call it dead. This hype culture shit needs to die.

The population doesn't matter if you're only playing single player, and the Souls series is meant to be heavy on the PvP element, so your point is pointless ._. 's more likely you're just in a franchise that doesn't match you.
He never said that. However due to the seamless way the Souls series handles Multiplayer, integrating it into the single player experience, the multiplayer is a fundamental aspect of the game. Imagine if you were playing a game where weapon customization is a huge part of the experience. The thing that keeps the community alive and gets people to come back to the game, is the fact that they can build their own weapons from scratch, and that building a good one is a rewarding experience.
Then the game gets remastered, and advertises itself as being a definitive version of the game, with a ton of quality of life changes. People flock to it, and realize that while several aspects of the game were improved (There are now additional save points in hard to reach areas and you can fast travel) the weapon customization was gutted. The customization is still there, and you can still make interesting weapons, but you no longer have freedom of creation, and have to pick from templates that autobuild themselves as soon as you have the parts.
While the game as a whole might be an improved and more streamlined experience, the reason people play the game was removed. So the community dies.
The fact DS Remastered's multiplayer is so broken is why the community around the game died. If you notice, an overwhelming majority of all discussion on Souls games (that isn't about Lore) is about the multiplayer experience.
