Another honorable mention is when Mike Mussina took a perfect game into the 7th inning of Game 1 of the 2004 ALCS. Crazy to think how much that series turned for Moose and the Yankees unfortunately.

Nice to see an orioles great get some love. As an orioles fan, we never get to hear much. Iron man (I’m ok with that, grew up in the 90’s and cal was/is my favorite player of all time) and the 70’s dynasty. Besides that, it’s been rough being an O’s fan. I miss the orioles of the 90’s though. Dare I say that besides Zach Brittons insane 2016 season, we haven’t had a pitcher all that worthwhile to talk about. We’ve had pitchers that got better AFTER leaving our team (gausman and bundy most recently) but mussina was our last strong star powered pitcher. These are the woes of loving the O’s.

Yes. Also underrated pitcher who never won a cy young when he was facing the best pitchers in the 90s and 2000s. Very consistent. One thing about him is that he outdueled Johnson and Martinez in his career.

It amazes me that he wasn't recrutied to play baseball. He went to Stanford on merit as an econ major and walked on to the baseball team. Paul O'Neill makes Andy Pettitte look smart. I can't imagine what he had to say to Moose.

A 10-K complete game shutout with 1 hit and 1 walk is a certified gem. A feather in any pitcher’s cap. But hard to call it “almost a perfect game” IMO, especially when broken in the 5th inning. Loved the video! Nice to know my man Dave Stieb wasn’t the only ace to come so close so many times!

As a Red Sox fan i remember those summer days between 2001 to 2003 watching mussina duke it out with Pedro. It was frustrating back then because id watch pedro shut down the yankees just to have mussina do the same until either pedro cracked or the bullpen blew it. Looking back at it now, it was a privilege to have seen a player like Moose and to have witnessed those classic battles between Mussina and Pedro.

Dude decided to retire in the beginning of the season, won 20 games, and then walked away from a team that won the next World Series and never looked back.

    But he’s in the Hall.
    Then there’s Jamie Moyer.
Jamie had nearly the same number of wins.
Jamie had two twenty win seasons.
    Jamie had a ni-hitter.
