    When I first started keeping cherry shrimp I lost quite a few, presumably because some of them couldn't acclimatise to the new water conditions. However, the ones that did adapt formed the basis of my now thriving colony.

All 10 'died' so i threw them in my big fish tank as food for the fish. They didn't move for a long time so i was pretty sure i thought but apparently half survived. I was as happy as a little child 😁

    Hello Richard
    Thank you very much for your tips!
    I've found background music to be a bit distracting
    The countdown is overly sophisticated and is not necessary at all imo

    • @FishKeepingAnswers
      @FishKeepingAnswers  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Hey, thanks for the feedback. It's appreciated. The truth is, a video with a countdown timer gets better viewer duration than one without, and viewer duration dictates everything as far as TH-cam cares. I appreciate you letting me know though

    • @kjudestevens1519
      @kjudestevens1519 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In this particular video, the music does seem much louder than his other work. That countdown trick helps me keep watching, if he's covering something I think I'm good on I start skipping forward to that next timer. The new overly complicated timer is more distracting compared to the old simple one however.

    My silly shrimp are really picky. They don't like the pellet food, they don't like stinging nettles or spinach. My guppy will only eat the granule food and doesn't like flake food. Lately the shrimp are eating the granules that stick on the algae at the back of the tank. The 3 of them are worse than feeding kids, lol. Nobody wants the same thing, lol. Hey Richard, I love your videos! When you were talking about water changes I remembered I saw a video that said that floating plants like water lettuce are the best at keeping nitrates low while aquatic plants are better at absorbing ammonia and nitrites, and with enough of both you can reach a point where water changes aren’t necessary anymore, is that true?

    • @FishKeepingAnswers
      @FishKeepingAnswers  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hi. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Yes, floating plants are great at sucking nitrates etc out of the water, and they can mean water changes are not necessary, but you may well still need to do water changes once in a while just to remove hormones and other chemicals that might be building up in the aquarium water.

My concern is my current tank is equipped with a diy co2(just a poor student,no budget for proper co2 equipment). Would it harm the shrimp if the diy co2 runs 24/7, or should I take out the diffuser at night and put it back in the morning? wont the co2 concentration fluctuate like that?
