I dont see anyone mentioning the way Eda's and Lilith's personalities really show even in their fighting styles. You can tell how freestyled & flashy Eda's magic seems to be, just doing what flows best while Lilith is a lot more ordered and direct.

@@carso1500 I think it has to do with how the two industries work, and how each views animation. Most Anime are Adaptations from Video Games, Light Novels and especially Manga. The later being very Author centric. While in the West, cartoons are usually viewed as being solely for children. Which blocks them from doing badass fight scene. There is also a more involvement by the Executives in Western Animation, and Directors/Creators tend micromanage the animators. Sakuga Animation in Japan comes about when the Director gives their more talented/experienced animator some Storyboard and maybe some Keyframes and just lets them do their thing. The animator will then apply the shit out of the rules of animation that both Western and Japanese animators have to learn. In conclusion, Western Animators are every bit as capable of doing Sakuga as their Japanese counterparts, but are rarely allowed. Actually, the oldest examples of Sakuga animation are actually old Disney animated movies.

Mostly because of budget, look at the first season of star they have smooth animation because they are not animated in korea then disney lowered the budget and then changed animation company, look at steven universe, they have stiff animation because of low budget but sometimes they have guest animators thats why some of their action scenes have great animation
it's a pretty cool detail how in this fight, Eda is the one mostly in defense with Lilith attacking, but in Agony of a witch, Eda is the one attacking with Lilith on defense.
I think this fight scene was the first time in the series that the animators were able to REALLY cut loose and show what they could do! btw, Eda's dance- thing in the first couple seconds of this video needs to be made into a GIF!

@@peachiidays7842 Lilith did try but well, Eda gave her no quarter. When Lilith pulled the teleport behind you with fire move on Eda, Eda did it right back. Eda was shooting super powerful beams that all Lilith could do was block or dodge.
I mean, you need to see what Eda was throwing at her, light bullets, quick staff bonks, and even immobilized lilith before delivering what looks like a blast of light. It seems pretty clear to me that Eda is more specialized in attacking and Lilith is more on defending.
This is scene is my favorite of the whole show for several reason first of all that smooth animation MMMM 2 we saw Luz and amity fight! And they're mentors happen to be rival sisters! AWSOME and then eda and lillith fight! That was just awsome and this is the first episode we see more of edas backstory! Also the first part was funny I was watching it with my mom (who is much like eda) one time and. She laughed and said I love this women 🤣
Also, I'm on season 2 now, I noticed lilith started to wear her glasses more like she used to as a child, and she is now more cheerful. In here she looks like very composed and serious, but we know she's just trying to present herself like this since she works for the emperor, deep down she's cheerful and nerdy
