Oh the earth's climate has definitely changed dramatically at various points in time. The difference is in how fast those changes were happening compared to now. Previous ice ages to warmer climate (and vice versa) took thousands of years. Meanwhile, we're seeing the same change in temperatures happening in a little over a century. That's like boiling a pot of water that typically took an hour, and then boiling the same pot and amount of water for like a minute. The conditions have changed.
