I moved house last year, and now have a garage all to myself for nothing but knife making and all round general noise making!Been working hard on it, made a grinding room to keep the dust in one section, 3 Phase power etc. Mind you the last knife I made was the kitchen knife for my dad, so it might take a while to get back into the swing of things 😂. Suburban Knife-Maker the garage sounds great I use a shed for dirty work grinding an such and an old caravan as my main work shop not too bad dry and warm in winter I wanted to have a go at a kitchen knife but didn’t know what Steel to go for what did you use? Been so sick getting over it feels absolutely great that’s why I’m so happy lol just glad to feel good again
Cosh Bushcraft I used the only steel I had available to make it and heat treat it properly, which was 01. If I had the means to treat stainless - like I do now - I would have made it in AEB-L. The knife still came out great. But as O1 is a carbon steel I ended up giving it a mustard patina in the end, because the mirror finish I gave it was tarnished the second we sliced a tomato lol (Very acidic) 😂. That knife was the last video I did, you have seen it👍
Suburban Knife-Maker so you’ve got a heat treat oven thing now too!! Wow I’m so envious of your toys would love To be able to do stainless my daughters a chef but never made her a Knife because they taint the food on certain things and the upkeep is madness lol I don’t even think I could afford the fuel to run one tho even running a gas forge would cost too much for me
