The dedication to a past friend and band mate for the Pink Floyd band , is just that . Dedication . Rodger Waters , David Gilmore , Nick Mason the late keyboardist Richard Wright somehow managed to have a heart for Syd Barret through all the years of good and bad. Astounding .
But he sure can write lyrics based on real, impactful meanings. Being "a singer" - without meaningful lyrics - is shallow. As soon as he left the band, Gilmour hired his now-wife, Polly Samson, to be Pink Floyd's lyricist.
No, but he sure can write. Well, could. He also COULD sing. He also gets grief when people think he may be lip syncing, he sure isn't lip syncing here. But Justin Bieber can sing too, but I always go for the guy who wrote the words, not the guy who just happened to be born with the pipes.
Some songs are perfect (perfect written and perfect performed). Wish you were here is one of that songs. It's very difficult make versions or change arrangements. It will never sounds good.
