I really got a lot out of watching this video...I am trying to fix "bracing" that was noted by judge during my last dressage test. This is a super helpful video! Thank you!!
I bet this kind of change has to happen with daily practice over a long time plus the owner/rider knowing how to ride him well. Since working with Jonathan in clinics (before COVID when he was visiting the US more often) I have worked more on MY problems than on my horses' issues...and voila! my horses' issues improve :) Thanks, Jonathan. You're so missed over here in the States. ~Holly
Hi Jonathan, I have a question about checking the backing up BEFORE I get up in saddle. A way to test while standing beside the ribcage or even long lines ?? Thank you very much
P.S. would you start with vertical flexion at the poll while standing beside the horse @ the ribcage?? THEN transition into get the legs to step backwards?? What about a second person out in front as a reinforcement phase ?? Good? Bad?
I have a little mule that does exactly this. Thank you so much for the great video

P.S. I rode one who backed up fine while I was standing in front of him, but got stiffness once up in the saddle and asked for backing up.
