    Description from Seachem: Reef Glue is a superior cyanoacrylate gel for gluing and mounting coral frags and colonies to reef rock or plugs. It bonds within seconds and has excellent control, hold and durability characteristics. It can even be used underwater. Reef Glue can be used for any aquascaping in freshwater or saltwater aquariums or for any plastics repairs. Reef Glue comes in an aluminum tube for extended stability life beyond products contained in plastic bottles - it won’t dry up in the tube. I am using Loctite Super Glue gel, and it is cyanoacrylate. Same thing as Seachem Reef Glue. I have never killed fish or shrimp, and people use it all the time in reef tanks, and their corals are extremely sensitive. It is more of a risk to use Glutaraldehyde or hydrogen peroxide to kill algae than using cyanoacrylate. it is pretty stable in water. Either way, I usually do this kind of thing before a water change, and you can always let it cure above water if you are concerned. I sometimes will do this to make it easier to work with, but really it can be used underwater.

    I just bought a bunch of coral moss on an impulse buy, and yours is the only video I could find that was science based info mixed with passionate hobbyist practical aquascape application.
    Such q breath of fresh air from the dozens of top recommended videos by the same obnoxious kids pushing the same myth based or flat out incorrect info. Many are just trying to get views to draw people to their websites to sell plants, or are imitating the same few bro-sciencetist aquatic plant youtube Gurus to become part of their fanboy circles.

    Perfect timing. I recently purchased some coral moss. It is just starting to take off. Slow growing moss so maybe I shouldn't say take off but you get what I mean. Beauty of a plant. Saw it in your tank on your last video and almost asked about it. Great tip. One that I will keep in mind.

      @ADUAquascaping  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MrHoney2U Yeah man, it is by far the SLOWEST son of a B! plant I have ever had. It makes Fissidens look like it is growing in high speed! But it is worth it. DET aquarium has some HUGE mats of it in his shrimp tanks. Grows drastically different under different lighting. His is a lot larger per prong than mine. Higher the light the smaller and more compact the prongs, or whatever you call them.

    Great video Dave.
    You tank looks wonderful!
    Please make a video on flow in the planted tank. I don't really get when you say you need "high flow" and then I don't see much movement in the tank with the plants etc.
    Also, I know some plants don't like flow...it's real confusing to me, but I know you can make a great video on the water flow subject :)

    • @ADUAquascaping
      @ADUAquascaping  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Laura Wrenn Well in a planted tank you always want some flow so nutrients and carbon can get around the tank. Some plants may like more flow than others because of where they are found in the creek, or river. Stem plants can tolerate higher flow that is why their stocks are flexible. Other thick stemmed plants can handle low flow because of where they are found. It isn't that they do or don't like flow, just what they can tolerate. Anubias may not like high flow in theory, but in your tank it really isn't going to be an issue, and it will thrive right under the filter outtake. That is where I had mine, and it loved it. I talked about this subject in my second to last, or maybe last 10 tips video. I also mention flow throughout my tips series. You just want enough flow that you can see movement in most areas of the tank. Along the substrate, back corners, middle of the tank etc... you may always have dead spots, but this may or may not cause algae or impede growth. If you have major dead spots than you may want to get a wavemaker. It doesn't have to be high flow, unless your fish species demand higher flow, you just want to be able to see sand, detritus, CO2 bubbles, plant stems, and leaves moving around in most areas of the tank. I have an additional 425GPH wavemaker, so by planted tank standards I have higher flow. My mosses aren't going to sway as much, so you don't notice it. Mosses can benefit from it because it helps keep them clean, and not collecting too much detritus. They are natural filters, so you want to counter their natural abilities within the tank. Some hobbyists tanks don't have enough flow in my opinion. And if you are doing high tech having more flow really helps to balance your tank. I talk about this in a few other videos. The classic configuration is the vortex, which is when you aim the outtake and a powerhead/wavemaker at the center of the tank, and have both positioned in the back corners of the tank with one on each side. This is how I am running my tank right now, but when I had it scaped differently with all of the ferns and stem plants I did the circular pattern. This is where you have the outtake in a back corner, and the wavemaker in a front corner, and instead of aiming into the middle you aim straight across to the adjacent corner. This creates a circular current, either clockwise, or counter... Haha, thanks for letting me go nuts! Maybe I should do a video on outtake and powerhead configurations and how they can be used with different kinds of scape styles.

    Hi, i wish you could cover about water temperature, and how does it affects the plants metabolism and whatnot about thriving algae on warm water and fast growing plant versus the cold water. It will be interesting on which preferably the best temperature not just for fish but also for the plants. Thanks!

    • @ADUAquascaping
      @ADUAquascaping  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ichisuke 03 77 degrees for most setups is ideal. For pigment production in plants, growth, and fish. Higher temps will speed up metabolism and growth, but so will higher light and more CO2. So they all impact plant growth. My mosses prefer cooler waters, but are actually growing very fast compared to other times I have grown them in the past. This is because I have high light, CO2, and am dosing nutrients. Fissidens is considered a slow growing moss, but mine grew really fast by its own standards.

    • @ADUAquascaping
      @ADUAquascaping  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Glen Hill Yes, I have been having some now that I bought more fish and have been feeding more. It is a biofilm created by mostly bacteria. You can use paper towels to dab it, but really if you add a lot more bio media to your filter, and pack it full, it will create more bacteria beds in the filter vs on top of the water. Or you may have to get a larger filter and try this method. You can also get a water skimmer, but again that isn't really solving the issue, and you can also spray hydrogen peroxide via a spray bottle onto the surface and it will be gone in a day, but will probably come back.

    are you using super glue under water

    • @ADUAquascaping
      @ADUAquascaping  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, it works really well, but it's easier to just remove some water first, if possible. You just have to act fast if you do it under water and use the gel type super glue

    • @ADUAquascaping
      @ADUAquascaping  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It gives off a little ammonia as it cures, so nothing too crazy. The plants will just use it to some degree, and the rest will gas-off

    Did you ever try growing mini pellia in low/med light? I want to grow it mini pellia but want as low light as possible to avoid GDA.

    Hi, i have these riccardia charmedryfolia and it turned brown. is it dead? or can i still plant them? Thanks in advance.

    • @ADUAquascaping
      @ADUAquascaping  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +sheridan avila It may bounce back. It can be grown from a single cell, so you may want to plant it and see if it bounces back.

    super glue? isn't that poison for fish etc

    • @ADUAquascaping
      @ADUAquascaping  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cyanoacrylate is non toxic. It does not have plasticizers that could be released as vapors. Similar molecular makeup to ammonia. Can be used underwater. Using Seachem Excel is more dangerous than using super glue.

    my mini pellia is turning dark brown after gluing to drift wood.
    any idea on how to prevent this?

    • @ADUAquascaping
      @ADUAquascaping  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      boss bully boy some parts will melt from the glue, but it usually bounces back with no issue.. Try to use a fair amount of Riccardia to super glue. If you use a lot of glue on a thin piece of the Riccardia it may kill it off. make sure the piece of Riccardia has some thickness to it.

    if people would only read your first post, like I did, before asking what we all immediately wondered... thank god for cut-n-paste! ;-) Great video, any suggestions where one might find these mosses online, perhaps?

    • @ADUAquascaping
      @ADUAquascaping  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Chris Locke haha, yeah man, this glue really works well, no issues. It is well known in the hobby to be pretty stable under water. If you are still concerned you can just do a water change and add the glue onto exposed wood and rock during the change.

    Among all your aquascapes this is my most favourite one. Do you have any video of making this aquascape? I will absolutely love to see that and will make one for myself.

    • @ADUAquascaping
      @ADUAquascaping  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately I do not have a video on how I made it, but I used two pieces of manzanita wood, built up lava rocks on the back left side and also had the wood anchored under the lava rock, so that is what is in the substrate of the left side. Then used Aquasoil on top and built up a big slope. Used lava rock around the base to keep in the aquasoil and then put ADA colorado sand around the perimeter.
