i think it must depend on personal preference because i think light 1 looks better! i personally prefer going lighter rather than darker when i'm between shades as well. i have rosacea though so i feel kinda biased since going lighter + using green cc goes a long way in hiding it :)

Very pretty look!! I love the finish!! The Ta Flap needs some traction and recognition!!! I haven’t tried a cream foundation but thoughts on the powder to cream ratio. I’m envisioning compacts accumulating with all the cream used but powder lingering. It would be nice if it had refills. So are you ok with going about your day and waiting on it settle nicely. I mean, is one ok to leave the house without folks whispering that “ oh her face is settling, wait until you see her in 3 hours.”🤣😘
hahahahhahahahah. "Do NOT look upon me until 11 am!!! I am still cooking!!" YES, it's going to be like that eyeshadow palette where the weird blue shade is left and all the others are panned. It doesn't look BAD when first applied but...the good thing is that it looks BETTER ever time you glance at it. That being said, exactly, a lot of people just want to look put together for the day, rather than so much emphasis being put on a complexion product. So this one goes under the fussy category for that reason.

Arleen! I love the fan, too! I also am not really impressed by the gloss. And I was not impressed by a body gloss that he made, a highlighting gloss that had a cloying sweet scent. I did not enjoy that product at all. By the way, laughing at the fact that you said no shade to wet and wild.

It looks lovely on you! I am dying to try it as I am not a foundation fan and I am oily at 55. I think it might work! I took the Ta test and am light 4 with blond hair and darker skin- definitely darker than you.
It runs light but it’s so skin like that it works well. It’s so interesting. My only concern is that if you’re used to being entirely foundation free, it might feel like a lot on your skin
What I love is that we have two products there and we can take it with us for retouch or travel. It’s really tempting me more than the other recent complexion releases. Waiting for the Vieve’s ❤️😍

Shade 3 is definitely you. I can tell right away also. I love the convenience of this so easy to travel with. I want to try it and hope to find my shade in stores. Also Makeup Forever came out with an HD all in one palette that really intrigues me thanks to Emily Noel.

I've watched a couple of reviews on this one now and everyone has said the same - you like it more as the day goes on. My only hesitation with this one is the dry skin issue. Here in Toronto we will be heading into fall and then winter - which gets VERY cold. My skin is sooooo dry in winter, not sure if this one makes sense considering how much work I'd need to put in. It's CAD$69, so not a cheap foundation by any means. As for the colour, I think the Light 1 looks brightening and could be ideal for fall/winter . . . but you still have colour to you right now which means Light 3 looks great at the moment. Sorry, that's not super helpful!
It's totally helpful, Tonya! It's nearly impossible to tell and I still need to experiment maybe with deeper shades. These balm creams tend to go light on me. I hear you regarding the winter and the cold, dry air with this foundation.
I think it really looks pretty on you. I agree that #3 is a better match. So great to see you review this. You are so very good at hitting all of the positives and negatives on everything you review. As I’ve gotten older I have learned to enjoy cream products. Do I need this? No. Will I buy it ? The jury is out. 😂❤️🥰🤩

I can’t tell the difference between the 2 shades. It looks nice and natural. My concern is reviews w wear tests seem to indicate it is not long wearing. It would then only be a weekend or vacation type of product for me.
It's wearing nicely for 8 hours on me. But I will test for longer and see....!!!
Had a mini panic when you put on #1 and it look a bit too light but overall nice. I had just ordered two and I am much (much much) more fair than you. But I double checked and I got got fair 2 not light 2 thank goodness. You could really wear either shade. Both looked great!

Definitely light 3. I think I'm gonna pass because it seems it will grab onto dry skin which is what I have. Bit I do have a great skincare routine and I put on like 2 essences and serums before my sunscreen. Not sure what to do.. not that I need another foundation! But love hos blushes.
Hi blushes and powders together are so good. Yes. Those blushes are amazing. This one is a bit fussy. It really is...but it's kind of fun in that way, too, if that insanity makes any sense.
Could you imagining if he had a concealer shade in that packaging too? A one and done quick base. I like how it does include a powder. I’m always on a hunt for the fast look makeup to include in my collection.

Honestly, I can’t tell the difference between the 2 sides of your face and the different shades. I love the concept of foundation with a “ta flap” 😂 and powder all in one.
My only hesitancy is that it doesn’t mention dry skin. I am so dry my skin hurts and cracks in winter. The struggle is real!
The last time you mentioned that a foundation “probably wouldn’t be good for dry skin”, I bought it anyway, because what does Ms. Rebecca know?! Turns out, she knows a heck of a lot! It was the new Hourglass foundation and not only was it bad for my dry skin but the recommended shade was supposed to be neutral and it had an orange undertone! I am debating if I should keep if for Halloween, black some teeth out and go as a pumpkin! That’s how orange it was!
Side note: I have found the Temptalia foundation grid to be much more accurate than Sephora’s. Christine takes feedback from users and updates the grid. Sephora doesn’t. 🤷🏻♀️
Temptalia’s guide is superior. Totally agreed. Ohhhh no. The HG went orange? Dear lord. That’s not the look you want. Frankly even for Halloween!! I do worry about this one for dry skin too. Unless you put on so much moisturizer and primer that you could do a face slip and slide. Haha. I do worry tho. Joking aside. I really worry about it for dry skin.
I’ve been looking forward to this (when I can get my hands on it here), but I hope it’s light enough. I just had a look on the website though and its apparently a roses shade, and I’m definitely a yellow, more warm shade. The #3 looks like it would be a light bronzer on me hahaha but it looks great on you!

Another great review, Rebecca; thanks for doing this one. I’ve enjoyed Patrick Ta’s blushes and most recent eyeshadow palette, in large part because the Ta Flap 😁 and that it keeps the cream portions protected. For this one, I am curious to try it but wonder if I’d deplete the cream portion in like 2 weeks (not financially feasible if I love it) and the powder portion would be only 1/3 gone. Thoughts on the pan sizes?
TOTALLY Pam. That is a logical thought. YEP! It's almost like most people will need two cremes to one powder!!! Especially if you only powder in spots. That being said, I'm finding that I am powdering a lot because it's so shiny to start, you know?

I didn’t, but to be fair: when all the other makeup is on and by the time everything settles, it is hard to tell the difference between the shades. Honestly Rebecca it's really hard to tell the difference of the shades. At first I liked the darker shade as a close match for you but later in the video, the lighter shade seems to brighten you up. So I'm no help...sorry!! This compact would work really well for travel!! And TA FLAP is a THING!! 🤣🤣

Shade 3! This looks great on you. The shades in this line are so confusing. I was matched to tan 3 but someone lighter than me reviewed it and she felt it was too light for her...then I was gonna go with deep 2 but some one reviewed it and it's entirely too dark lol...leaving me to pick between tan 4 and deep 1. One model looks extremely orange and the other one look red...lol I might have to pass.
Yes! I am really finding the exact same situation in terms of every shade feeling a bit off. You know, this is nothing new with these type of balm or cream foundations. I just never was able to find one in the Kevyn Aucoin. And I tried honestly four different shades. I still feel that even the light three is too light here. I am waiting for them to finally get it in store so that I can go in and see in person. I still feel, honestly, like even the light three is about two shades too light for me. It all balances out when you add make up and such over it but I would still like to have a perfect match. Not sure if that’s possible.

I think light 1 looks nice on you after 4 hours! It looked so pale when you first apply it😅, but as the time went by, it looked brighten and pretty! Antonia!!! I have heard wonderful things about the Valentino foundation and you know I have not tried it! I know. It wasn’t really until 2022 that I started doing every foundation imaginable because I was so shocked they were coming out with so many.

I honestly can't tell much difference between the shades. Is it just me ? I'm not really a fan of cream foundations or cream products generally, but I did purchase the Danessa Myricks Yummy balm, though that dries to a powder finish and I like it. I don't like anything too heavy or sticky feeling.
I think you can safely pass on this one then, Carolyn. I like the Danessa yummy also. I think, as you say here, it’s that powder finish. If not it definitely feels like something on your face and that can end up driving me crazy too.

You know what it is, Camille? This is going to be like the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Foundation. I was very meh until I was matched in store and they shocked me with the 4W as I'd never go warm. I think I need to go in store, FIND the RIGHT shade and THEN we'll really know.

Right now I’m looking for a light weight, light-medium coverage foundation with a nice soft matte finish…even a nice skin tint but all these luminous/dewy finishes are not for me, as much as I would like them to….I think I’ll hold off on this one for a bit…maybe if and when you find your perfect shade and you like it better….you’re my go to…
@@cabrooker my only issue with this one for a lot of us is it’s kind of a lot of work. So you’re making your face super shiny and then you’re applying this and then you’re really having to rely on the powder because you’ve added so much shine to make the cream work. It’s really like a make up artist dream for a photo shoot, if that makes sense. I was just on the website looking again for a better shade and it just doesn’t seem like I can find anything. So I’m just feeling like it’s fussy.

Hi Rebecca. I could see a difference on you. For sure, Light 3, is better, even in winter I think it would work, imo. The light is just to light. I think you can go up to a medium 1 for now. Supposedly not a dry skin pick, Janice. I don't quite know WHY but, yeah, it's for super moisturized skin. Shame. It's pretty.

Deff light 3 for you. My neighbor brought mine over about 7 last night. It went to his house. So I already tried my Nikkia joy matte primer. So when I tired this that was not doing it favors. But I am going to try it again today. I am going to use my silk canvas. But right at first I’m like hmmmmm idk about this. Then about 30 min later I was ok it’s looking better so I’ll try again today
I think I’m probably even darker than the light three but it’s not in store yet which is annoying. These darn Cream foundations. They are often so light on me. I love that your neighbor got it. Did the shade work on him? Yes. I have to tell you. It’s not something you would like right away it’s kind of a three hour in situation.

I kept the darker of the two. I was able to make either work with bronzer and blush but there is no doubt that the lighter was simply too light.

GREAT question. You always have good questions. This one is mushier. Like at first you feel it more. This one isn't super dry skin friendly but Wayne's is.
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty The idea of using a cream fdtn and then a powder is similar to Make Up by Mario’s recent launch (& Waynes). I haven’t tried Marios but like Waynes very much, especially the powder. I love the Vanessa Myricks cream to powder (I have combo skin) and am hoping I like this also…not that I need it. I appreciate and look forward to all of your reviews and thank you for putting yourself out there in such an appropriate way and always thoroughly trying products for your audience. Also…for not showing us your new Range Rover or walk in closet. So inappropriate In my opinion.

Can’t decide between light 1 and light 3. I’m neutral , which one is more neutral would you say ?
Hello! There is very little difference between light one and light three. Both are described, as you probably know, as golden neutral so neutral with a tad bit of a warm leaning. Light one has a bit more pink to it but that is probably also because it is a tinge lighter. If you could say that you would benefit from a lighter neutral shade with a kiss of warmth, think of it as one hair deeper when you get to three. And I think three gets a teeny bit warmer as well. It’s a tossup though very much so.
3 is better but both are too light imo. I would return both and get a darker shade in store.
At the end it doesn’t really look bad but I can’t really see your neck/chest to tell if it matches. I used to use RCMA and I know you could always mix a drop of oil in it or put some oil on your face. I loved using a damp sponge to apply it though and never used oil.
Absolutely and entirely agreed. And they’re not in store yet. I’m so annoyed. I went online and I honestly cannot find a light medium shade that would work with my undertown so I have got to go match in store. In the photos of the models demonstrating it aren’t helping really either.
No idea how to dm you for a follow up but I received mine (light 2, good match) and really don’t like it. No idea how this is recommended for combo/oily skin. It feels heavy on my skin and never sets. I much prefer WG with his powder or the DM new one.
It's definitely a feeling like you are WEARING it. I am going to revisit when it's cooler out for sure. Right now, the very thought of the heaviness is a no for me.

I've been planning on buying this foundation, being a créme fan, and I like the idea of having a powder with it. My worry with all foundations is whether or not they will collect in pores and wrinkles, leaving spots and little road maps of telltale makeup. Does this crease or sit in pothole pores? The Light 3 looks fine on you, and the 1 could be used to highlight. Looking at Patrick Ta's website, I couldn't find any place where it specified that the foundation was meant for any specific skin type. The Sephora site omitted dry skin in its description. Did Patrick Ta mention in a video that it wasn't recommended for dry skin? My skin isn't dry, but some foundations, like Wayne Goss's, do that spotted-pores thing unless I follow up my sunscreen with a bit of facial oil. Ta's foundation looks more emollient in its application. I guess I'll have to experiment once I get it. Good review, Rebecca! Thanks! I was eager to see what you thought of the product.
Hello Elizabeth. It def shows pores but only at first. Then it settles and blends and wears well as the day goes on. No. PT def did not state that it isn’t for dry skin but he definitely says the face MUST really be prepped and moisturized well. So that might be a sign. 💕

You wanna hear how bad the shade matchers are ALWAYS for me, well I put my foundation in and it came back with: "sorry we don't have a shade for you." Next time with a different foundation it said light golden. I am fair with pink cool undertones. I'm gonna have to return via mail which blows bc I know these shades are hard to tell and I don't have a local Sephora 😭
It's not in my Sephora either and I clearly need a darker shade. I can NOT tell online. I LOVE the "We do not have a shade for you" message. I often get it. They need to play that "wonk wonk wonk" sound affect when you get that message.

I find it hard to take Patrick Ta serious after seeing him. He seems like a goofball. He seems like he falls over his feet. I have a few products from him, I doubt if I expand on that. But he may come out with something that is just amazing. We'll see. Plus he got some kind of lil scam going on with the influencers so that he doesn't have to pay them...Girl he a goofy hot mess.
